We have visited hellshire many times while visiting Jamaica and it never lets us down There are many fish restaurants to choose from serving fish, lobster, shrimps fresh from the sea The beach has improved since my last visit and is clean and nice, white sands Even picked up wifi Also nice at night time for a fish supper and... We had a great time at this local hangout at the recommendation of a friend in Portmore. There are plenty of food stalls to eat local favorites and freshly caught seafood at non-tourist prices. This gorgeous soft beach is perfect for playing in the sand or wading or swimming, which is a rare combo in this part of the island... More

My husband and I loved going to Hellshire Beach, but you need to research it a little, and know what to expect. It isn't for everyone! You will be approached by the vendors as you enter to go to the place. The beach is definitely short (not much sand before ocean), so it's not really for sunbathing. What do you... More

Strongly recommend being accompanied by a local when you head on to hellshire beach. Not very tourist friendly. However, you will get a feel of the real Jamaican vibe. They have a nice seafood shack next to the water

Went to Prendy's and had some fried snapper and festival. It took about 30 minutes from order selection to the table. The staff was friendly and the food was priced reasonably. The place was sanitary. The view of the beach was perfect. We listened to music, were offered custom craft by business men, and had enjoyable chatter while taking photos.... More

Have been visiting Jamaica for over 20 years. Portland is my favorite area. Have a friend who lives in Kingston. First time staying in Kingston. Totally impressed. I understood beaches wouldn't be as accessible. Researched before trip. Two beaches according to Trip Advisor. Hellshire & Ft. Clarence. First visit to Hellshire. We had a seasoned driver accompanying us. When you... More

I went to Hellshire Beach during the week which was less congested than if you were to go on the weekend. Tons of shops to eat. I enjoyed my time that I spent there.

There's no sand the little cook shops take up all the spaces, then if you sit in their shop you have to buy food from them. I used to hear people talk about it and I expected so much from the infamous "hellshire" beach never again.

I have family in portmore and kingston so always go with them for fish. I have never had any trouble there. But if you are new to Jamaica or looking for tourist information i would reccommend heading to the north ochie, negril etc. This is great to go to if you are based in kingston for a while. And as... Best fresh, done to order fish. However you like it Aunt Merl n her son Matthew in the kitchen will make it perfect. Great bammy and festivals also. You won't be disappointed. PS. Not much beach to lay on n not the clearest water to swim in. L
