This fortress is a bit further from other popular sights in Mtskheta, but you can walk there.
Since it's not a popular tourist destination, it was rather neglected when I visited it. But the fortress itself is well-preserved and quite large. The view from the top is great too.

Easy drive from the center of Mtskheta and has great views of the river and town. It’s a small hike to the top and the fort itself is a bit run down, but worth a visit if you’re in the area already.

A definitely a visit on this spot which is quite close to Svetitschoveli Cathedral and Samtavro is a must. Breathtaking views even if it's just that river from that place. Relaxing..

We were here in September 2019. Like the two previous English language reviews have said, this fortress is slightly outside of the town and we had a hire car so drove here. It's pretty much a ruin inside but offers great views across the valley and a bit of peace and quiet. Worth a quick trip if you're in the area, but probably not worth making a concerted effort to visit.
