Without a doubt the variety of saunas and swimming pools is amazing but unfortunately I could not found it relaxing.
The web page is all in Dutch so it is hard to translate every single word and found out that you need to walk naked completely. I was not aware of that role until one woman from the staff took me out of the swimming pool, commanding me that I need to take of my bikini (I was wearing only the bottom). No she did not ask me, she commanded me without even a trial of listening that I don’t feel comfortable being completely nude. (Two hour later another person from the staff did the same thing, but this one was even more rude). Additionally I don’t think that it is hygienic to sit on anything with your naked skin, when just 100 people, with all their bacteria’s were siting here as well.
I must say I felt really stressed and it determined my whole stay at the spa. It is completely different situation when the period of being naked is very short, only in saunas, and walking on huge facility completely naked, swimming naked, using Jacuzzi naked, eating naked and so on.
I truly loved the place, I have never been in such a great spa, unfortunately, I will probably will not come back because there is only one day when you can wear your panties and it’s Monday. I guess no one working or studying has a time to spend Monday in the spa, me, definitely not.

Dear Julia M,
The resort is indeed accessible without swimwear. In the saunas and pools you don't wear swimmingclothes, outside you always wear a bathrobe, also in the restaurant. There are swimwear days and then you wear swimwear.
Obviously, it wasn't the intention of our staff to treat you unkindly, our apologies.

Having been here a number of times, but a few years back I had a chance to go again.
There have been a lot of changes since, it's not that much bigger but, it has much more capacity now and, the crowds to go with it.
You have to be able to move about undressed, yes, it's a nude only spa. If you are a bit more modest wear your bathing gown, but, for the rest no clothing allowed. There are days with bathing suits only and girls days so check the website to make sure you end up on the right day.
Even if it's cold outside there is plenty inside or just brave the elements and dunk yourself in one of the warm venues outside, try the salt pool for instance, very nice when it's dark (but drink plenty, you do tend to dehydrate).
Restaurant, it's not 5 star food but after a day spa-ing there is a good bite for anybody. Personally we had salads, and, they did not dissapoint.
I would give is a 5 star but, I was missing something, that mainly being the near lack of drinking fountains. That is a bit of a let down so, take your water bottles with you to fill on few available units as you need to drink.

I have been to this spa many times and i love it, professional, clean several themed saunas, then new turkish hamam is fantastic so is the cinema pool and th cave themes area whihc are all new additions, there is even a spoken book sauna ... So no shortage of facilites or themes. you are free to walk nude , with a towel wrapped aroumd you or whith a bath robe ( a couple of days a month there are bathing suot days or women only days ) . The bath robe can be rented for 6 euros , i didnt as i had my towel wrappd around me , my friend and i wanted coffee the cafe is I. THE MIDDLE on the spa they said we cannot get in unless we get bath robes, i can u derstamd they wanted this but the rational of payong 12 euro on robes tp purchase and have a coffee wqs redundant . maybe the cafe and also restaurant should loan robes to the patrons who are coming to pay ( an inflted price) for the food or drink, ot os the decent and fair thing to do....

We have visited the Elysium already 5 times but our last visits were very bad. From our perspective it now has turned into a very commercial venue: ALL of the sauna's did not exceed the 60 degrees Celsius, probably because of the cold weather (0 degrees outside). Not acceptable when paying 40 euro's a person (or 50% discount via an auction). Also half of the infrared sauna was turned of.
Furthermore: the showers next to the entrance are very poor and water is even leaking through the ceiling next to some showerheads. The 'new' lockersystem also feels very cheap compared to the computerized locker system they had in the past. Last but not least: the place was not very clean en reasonably crowded. Especially because of all the cool sauna's the whole experience was bad except for the salt bath outside which was clean and warm.
Sad to see the Elysium turning into a bad moneymaker.

For my 40th my close friends decided to pool in and booked a half day at the spa whilst visiting my friend in rotterdam! i only got to know about it a couple of hours before so I didn't have time to check about it.
It was in little words a culture shock: I had never been to a 'nude' spa before in my life! so i was left stranded for at least an hour getting used to the environment. the first blow was going into the communal changing rooms that doesn't offer any closed cubicles.
however after my half body massage i felt more at ease. i only felt better when i realized that being a foreigner no one knew me except for my spouse! it was a do or die thing!
after the initial shock of taking off the robe for the first time it was ok then! & enjoyed the experience to the max.
It is truly a beautiful place and even the food in hhe restaurant was outstanding.
at first I wanted to 'KILL' my friends - but then I just want to thank them for this unique experience.

This is a paradise for Spa lovers. It's clean and well maintained, And everything is very affordable!
The entrance fee for all the sauna's, etc. is only €29,- and you can stay from 10am until 11pm for that price.

my husband and I visited this Spa in mid-August when the weather had finally turned hot and had a blissful nude long weekend switching between the saunas, pools and sunbathing, all as nature intended. For me a big plus was that the number of women significantly outnumbered the men with plenty of groups/pairs of friends and mother/daughter couples, as well as many single women, with none of the lone men wandering around all the time that can plague other spas and nude beaches. Not cheap but good value when you spend the day.

For our 9 year anniversary, we undertake the 1.5h drive to Bleiswijk to celebrate this joyous occasion, having booked an arrangement including Balinese massage and dinner buffet - seemed like the best idea before driving back.
Upon arrival it is immediately clear we won't be the only ones - the parking is nigh on full, and the reception area reminds us of an amusement park's waiting lines.
Sure, it's a long wait, but we're rewarded with a friendly explanation of the facilities.
Once dressed down, we have a hard time stuffing our clothes and belongings in the tight lockers, who fall shut only to be locked again - not very handy to say the least.
Inside, an odoriser seems to diffuse a smell reminiscent of "morning after party" beer odors, not very wellnessy.
All facilities are crowded, some even overcrowded, and finding our spot in something suitable seems like quite the task.
Wherever signs with 'Silence Mandatory' and 'Resting Area' have been put up, there is gleeful laughter and even shouting at passers-by. Most unpleasant. Even the sparingly communicated message 'no (wanted) intimacies' seems to escape some people's attention.
Lunch is had at the restaurant 'Puur', which is perfectly acceptable.
The facilities we DO visit are very cleanly and diverse. Sure, the entire domain is built to capacity, but we see this as an upside - they could've just as easily charged us wellness-type prices for 4 saunas, 2 hot tubs and a pool, but choicewise, this place is well equipped. That is, if you find room.
The Balinese massage was amazing. Friendly, polite masseuses who know their trade, a very pleasant experience.
Finally the dinner buffet, which should've been a delightful apotheosis to a somewhat chaotic day.
You are assigned a specific time bracket, of which you meet the 'others' while standing in front of the door like cattle. In the same fashion you are ushered in and requested to find yourself a table. Very soon, the drinks order is written down, after delivery of which you don't see any more staff.
The food is presented in containers (not even bain maries), cooling down in the kitchen window or on tables, lacking any sign of heating system.
Either overdone or undercooked, most of it flavorless, it feels like you are fed yesterdays re-re-re-heated leftovers.
The result is extremely chewy burgers, dangerously pink chicken à la Roti, watered down fruit salad, powdered soup, corn from a tin, and so on.
This is unworthy of a restaurant, even a buffet at that. Even in gas stations, school cantinas, we've had better food. Having the gall to charge people 22,5 EUR per person is a mindboggling disgrace.
As stated, the personnel wasn't available for comments, and leaves us with dirty plates and cutlery for over half an hour - not that we'd want to go for seconds anyway.
After having left with an unpleasant feeling, we get dressed and head for reception, where we can finally speak our mind, only to be rewarded with an unimpressed "I'll pass on your feedback.' and "if the bill is correct, kindly enter your card." - too stupefied, disappointed and tired, we head out, back to Belgium.
An imploring e-mail to customer service, because we feel upset, is answered with:
"We can't be in every area at the same time, so things can't be avoided for which we apologise. If the buffet isn't satisfactory, please notify an employee, so actions can be taken. Afterwards, this is no longer possible. We've passed on your remarks concerning the buffet to the chef.
We're sorry to say we can't turn back time, thank you for your e-mail."
That's that. Anniversary ruined. 200 EUR plus gas lost. More, not less stress.
No solution. Thanks Elysium. Last time ever.

Elysium day spa is supposed to be the biggest in The Netherlands. I received a free entrance giftcard from my work for 2 people and brought my husband with me. I booked this spa based on what I saw on the internet. We are frequent visitors to day spas all over The Netherlands so we were looking forward to spending the day at this one.
We arrived to a crowded unorganized entrance hall with 3 registers. The lines were 40 people deep and people were lined up at 2 of the 3 check-in points. There were no employees directing the crowd to make the check-in more efficient. We spent 30 minutes at the check-in point and we walked straight up to the register with no line. The girl was new and didn’t know how to answer questions and forgot to activate my wristband. She gave no directions of where to go next to change clothes and we received no map. We had booked two treatments and had no instructions of where to go for them- only the times that we were booked. I checked my band before I got undressed in the locker room and that is when I found out my band didn’t work. We had to wait in line again to get a new wristband.
45 minutes later we were ready to get started. The floors and bathrooms were dirty. There was work being done in the spa (on a Saturday) with men walking around from outside to inside in workclothes and workshoes. They were painting and re-laying tiles while vistors were walking around in robes, towels, or naked. It was very uncomfortable and I would not have booked this day if I would have known that in advance. There was no staff cleaning the floors. I even saw one visitor walk into an unmanned ladder in the hallway.
There was no enforcing rules. There were people walking into saunas in slippers or kicking slippers off in the middle of the floor (one staff person tripped over a pair of slippers). The temperature of the day spa was cold because no one was making sure the doors were closed to the outside. There were 8 working bathrooms on the premises for 1300 visitors. There were no water stations. I was told by staff if I wanted to drink water, I could use a tap in the bathroom to drink from. There were couples touching each other and making out in the pools and saunas. There were toilet paper pieces floating around the pools. There was mud, grass, and leaves on the floors throughout the spa.The toilets were nasty and were not kept clean throughout the day.
The restautant was understaffed with dirty tables and the food was overpriced (€4,50 for a mint tea, €16,00 for a chicken ceasar salad). Ingredients in the salad were not freshly made (I would expect better from a spa that centers around health and wellness).
We had a singing bowl session which was also dissapointing. I give singing bowl therapy myself to clients and the session was erractic and anxiety provoking with the way she mixed tones and sounds. She also ended the session complaining about how things in the spa were broken and how there were too many visitors that day and that the spa was above capacity. Well, she was correct and yes there were also saunas broken, tiles in pools missing, paint flaking off everywhere and molded worn down grout everywhere.
Our second treatment was great! No complaints there. We had an Uyuni experience and those girls worked really hard and enthusiastically to make every client happy.
We ended up leaving earlier than planned. We had seen enough. In the dressing rooms, there was no furniture to dress comfortably- just window ledges to sit on. There were no blow dryers, curling irons, flat irons, q tips, cotton balls, tissues, lotion....nothing. It was all very low rent.
When checking out, same problem as checking in: 2 lines 40 people deep with 3 counters, no one directing crowd flow. We went to queque up at the 3rd counter and the girl behind the counter ordered us to get in one of the 2 lines. When we finally got to the counter, 30 min later, I asked her why there were 2 lines and her answer was “I don’t know why people line up the way they do, they just did.” She then tried to overcharge me for a fee that shouldn’t have been on my ticket. She also did not ask how our stay was.
Do not go here, ever. It is a total waste of money. There are many many other spas that are much for professional and clean in The Netherlands.

Came here often 15 years ago, when it was a classy, quiet, even somewhat exclusive (for Dutch standards) sauna complex. Visited again last week. Probably worst sauna experience of my life. Crowded like an Ikea on a Saturday.
Should have turned the car at arrival, when we had to park three parking lots away because everything else was full. Sadly I had payed upfront so we went in. Inside it is huge but every square meter filled with people. Noisy, overcrowded atmosphere. Every tub and pool full of people sitting shoulder to shoulder. Waiting in line after a sauna visit to enter one of the shower areas. Feeling of an industrial cattle farm. There are at least 25 saunas on site, but no way to enter many of them because they were so packed.
I found out later that Elysium has become part of a resort chain that gives away free entrance tickets at all-you-can-eat restaurants. So it has become a sort of cheap, run-down nudist theme park.
This also explains why there are hardly any places to lie down inside (maybe 20 beds for hundreds and hundreds of people). They need you to keep moving constantly, and the only place to sit down is the restaurant. Also there, people are queuing up to find a place and then waiting for half an hour for order to be taken. We had planned to eat there but didn't because we hated the place, but from what we saw, the quality of food is in line with the cheap theme park atmosphere.
Basically, this place has nothing to do with sauna, relaxation or wellness anymore. This would not even be acceptable in UK or Germany, let alone in places where consumers demand higher standards. Even if you get a free voucher of this chain (they have 9 resorts spread over the Netherlands), I would avoid going there at all cost.

I have been to saunas but not in such cold weather. Would it be uncomfortably cold to switch between sauna rooms?

In fact, the answer is no. Because coming out of the heat into the cold is a great sensation and your body feels good. As long you are packed well in your morning coat in between saunas. Have fun

Succes!

I'm visiting Rotterdam on a mini cruise from Hull, uk.
I believe the coach drops off at conradstraat near the central station.
How would I get to the spa from there, and how much would the transport cost?

its just on the outskirts of Rotterdam (Bleiswijk) I caught a bus there once when I was living in Rotterdam so its best to consult timetables
