About Trem das Aguas
The Train of the Waters is a heritage train operated by ABPF (Brazilian Association of Railway Preservation) in Sao Lourenco - MG. The train departs from the central station of Sao Lourenco and goes to to Soledade de Minas, a total of 20 km ride (round trip). The train is pulled by an authentic steam locomotive, and in Sao Lourenco there are two locomotivas available: locomotive 327, an English Beyer Peacock Pacific (4-6-2) built in 1928 and locomotive 1424, Baldwin mikado (2-8-2) built in 1927 Mikado. The train consists of up to 8 passenger cars, with mostly heritage wooden cars and two heritage carbon steel cars. The ABPF (Brazilian Association of Railway Preservation) is a cultural character institution, instructional and recreational, non-profit, whose basic objective is to promote the preservation of historical heritage of the Brazilian railroads. The organization fighting for the preservation of railroad heritage.

What a wonderful time we had. Everyone was so friendly. Visits to the locomotive cab were no problem in the stations. The journey on the train was wonderful, just like travelling back to a time, when people were not as rushed as they are now....More

Simple and that's it! Very expensive for an ugly way! The train is good, the girls that work there were very kind with us. Tasting wines, cheeses, juice, etc.More

Train is clean and nicely preserved but it's not worth it the R$55 (cheapest ticket). There's no landscape, pretty much dirt and favelas.More
