Best castle visit ever

The castle itself was quite normal but the animations and shows made you really feel back in time. 1 year after the visit the kids still talk about sumeg.

Nice place thrre. You can walk/drive up to the castle but a little bit of sport does not hurt since you get typical hungarian food at the bottom. You need to see this!

The flog up to the castle is not for the faint hearted but is well rewarded. This is a small castle as they go and has been heavily restored, but as a place of interest and entertainment it is excellent. On a Saturday there were lots of things going on, the archery demonstration being a highlight. There are lots of... More

After quite a hike we found ourselves back in time in the 16th century - but we felt definetly like we were the aristocracy. The hill is steep but not too high to climb(even pushing bikes up like we did), but you can take a cab too. The courtyard is full of fun games, there are some cute animals, and... More

We have now been to this twice in the last couple of years with the castle, the show and the banquet. The show is great entertainment and has improved over the years with archery, jousting, crossbows and more. The banquet is great food and entertainment. Definitely a family trip to take.

The castle and the area are in really good condition. There is a lot of program, so this is not boring for the kids. Unfortunately there is no taxi to the castle in winter time, so for old people can be a challenge to climb the hill.

We visited the castle on a shiny February day. The castle is on the top of a hill. The view is nice and the building was interesting.

Take route 84 to the famous Lake Balaton and when you nearing small town of Sümeg, you will notice a conical hill with walls and towers on top of it. That is Sümegi vár (Sümeg castle-fortress). It was built in the second half of the 13th century and lived through various fights and historical events. Its walls encircle the inner... More

If it is raining at the Balaton this is a perfect alternative. Specially with children ideally. There are lots of animals and out door fun for children. Also a very good restaurant which one can recommend and which is not expensive.

We were here with a group of collegues. We were almost 130 people, so I don't exactly know if it was special for us. The welcoming in front of the castle was awesome and impressive. It was a great castle restaurant with authentic surrounding. The food was not my type, but the dance show, show with the horses were awesome!... More
