One of the best views in the Schwabish Alps.
Mar 2020
We have been exploring the Schwabish Alps for a number of months and this castle provided one of the highest and best views of the area. We were a little lazy and took the long road around to the parking lot nearer to the castle. We timed our visit for lunch and the falconry show which is at 2 PM on Sundays during the winter. We will go back again to explore the nearby trails which are numerous and have great views. It is a bit windy so dress warm.

Spectacular view
Mar 2020 • Couples
It has been a while since I went there and was pleasantly surprised - again. The renovation is (almost) done. The view is spectacular and the hiking opportunities countless. Being close to Stuttgart it is a great place to visit for a short or long time!

Fun and educational
Sep 2019
A fun and slightly challenging hike through the woods from the car park to the castle proper. Be careful to read the signs and directions closely, we went the wrong way at first. The views of Beuren and the surrounding towns are great, and I strongly suggest reading up on the history of the castle as it was somewhat important in the history of SW Germany. This comprised most of our visit to Beuren (which is where part of my family is from) and was well worth it. I plan to go back with my kids someday.

Amazing views and surroundings
Aug 2019
This castle has a lot to offer. The hike to it is not easy (the last part into the castle is very steap), but is certainly worth it.
First of all the castle offers some places you can walk around in, imagining those were prisons or something like that. Great for children.
But the best part are the views you can get from the upper parts of the castle. Those are just amazing. Take your time to walk around and see the views on all sides, you won't regret it.
In the middle of the castle you can get something to eat and drink. Not very much choise, but that's not problem.
There is also a real restaurant inside, but that only open on evenings.

When you go, don't forget to walk to one of the viewpoints around the castle before or after your visit. They offer great views of the castle, perfect for you Instagram. :)

Excursion with grandson

Easy to walk uphill to the Castle. The Castle is more and more restored.
The visit to the falconer's Show was amazing, especially for my grandson.

Birds eye view of the surrounding countryside

Easy to drive up to the wooded car park and the walk up to the castle. More and more is being restored.

Breathtaking view
Mar 2018 • Family
It's a pleasant and not too long of a walk uphill. You don't really notice how high you got until you look above the castle wall... and it's a hell of a view.
The sections of the castle are well described, which makes the sight more interesting.
If only possible, try visiting when there's a falconers' show - amazing (paid extra).

Long walk, little to see.
Oct 2017 • Couples
We made an effort to visit this castle ruin mid-October, 2017. Except for a small snack area, everything was closed. The ruins are being restored and are not very impressive, although the view is beautiful. Even if the restaurant was open, I wouldn't invest the time to get here, especially if you are trying to make the most of your vacation. There are MANY other castles that have greater appeal and interest.

One of the best-preserved medieval ruins in this part of Germany
Jul 2017 • Couples
This is one of the best-preserved medieval ruins in this part of Germany. Make sure you go all the way up - the views are stupendous.

Also, both the restaurant and the self-service kiosk are very good.

And the surrounding area is excellent for hiking.

Arduous trek for a small ruin with a nice restaurant.
Oct 2016 • Friends
Fairly aggressive trek up to the castle from the closest parking area. Some cafe and restaurant opportunities inside the grounds. Very nice vistas on all sides. Not much protection from the weather unless you're inside the restaurant. Very small as castles go, primarily a ruin.
