Gombori pass in an alternative way to reach Kakheti Region main city Telavi. This is shorter, than the main road via Gurjaani. Gombori pass is well known for its picturesque landscape. The curve mountain road is wonderful throughout whole year, but the most beautiful is spring and autumn. If you don't have problems with endless turns or drastic changes of elevation and air pressure, then Gombori road is your road of choice to Kakheti. The pass itself peaks at 1620 meters above sea level.

This is the shortest and more interesting road from Tbilisi to Telavi and beyond. The tarred road is rather new but already damaged. There is little traffic to encounter but the road is very twisty. In the winter the road is often closed due to the snow. The views from the top (over 1.600 meters!) are great - if the weather is good.

Nice view. We made it during a pass from Stefasminda to Telavi.
Better to have an AWD or 4x4.
It has huge turns. Be careful with trucks.

People over blow the amazingness of this road. It's the shortest way from Tbilisi to Telavi but it's incredibly curvy and makes most people sick if driven by a Georgian. Much like guidebooks will go on and on about the Hana Road in Maui, Hawaii, this is much the same. It's a road that gets you were you want to go. It's reasonably bucolic but by no means is stunning or anything to go out of your way for.

One of the most beautiful roads. It only takes app. 1 hour from Tbilisi to Telavi. You can easily get to Old Shuamta or New Shuamta churches bypass. The forest is stunning during the autumn and life full during the summer. However, you should know that Gombori road is getting high on Gombori hill and the road is very curved so in winters You really need a good wheels and experienced driver, it also maybe closed due to high probability of avalanche

We drove through the pass on the way to Telavi from Tbilisi but only stoped on the way back and I’m really glad we did. The views were stunning along the whole drive but at this spot there is a quaint coffee hut and a path up the nearby mountain that I walked up with my 5 year old. The view was worth it all!

Coming back from a wine tour we stopped at sunset at the pass. Absolutely breathtaking and spectacular. Just pull off the road and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Remind me (and our Kiwi companions) of New Zealand.

Went here while enroute to Telavi. Nothing much to look at. Stayed there for 10 min and git back in the car. Pointless stop for us
