This statue is nothing spectacular, but has great significance for the villagers who worked hard on the farms to bring goods and food to their family. Pretty cool sculpture!

The monument is located on the bridge in the middle of the city. For some reasons reminds me Sancho Pansa…
Unique and interesting

Georgia loves statues and this one is a little unusual as the donkey appears far to small to carry such a large doctor!

Inspired by a local artist, the small sculpture is placed on the pavement of a bridge and depicts a doctor riding a donkey. The doctor is holding an umbrella in his right hand and a bag in the other.

The sculpture is average but presents a great photo opportunity with the valley behind it.

It is a good photo opportunity especially with the panoramic views behind it. It is a cute pit stop on your way to the center.

Hard to miss if you stroll the town. It's a beautiful hilltop town. I was an off-season visitor and kept thinking while here how unpleasant this could be crawling with tourists.

Our guide told us the whole sad love story of a the doctor. A doctor loved a lady so much but never ended happily. If you are not informed of the story, it’s just a cute statue. Signaghi is a town of love and the statue of the doctor is a symbol of love.
We stopped Signaghi on the way back from David Gareja.

There’s not much happening in this town so I guess they have to figure out attractions. It’s a sculpture. On a bridge. Sometimes kids climb on it. But it’s really not exciting and I didn’t even see any information telling me what the statue was about or why it was important. I can at least appreciate from an art perspective. Definitely not something you come to town for though.

Not far away from the municipal parking lot you pass by the Doctor on a Donkey statue on your way into the centre of Sighnaghi. It reminds us of former times, when it was not easy for a doctor working in the countryside to reach his patients. It also tells us a lot about the Georgians' spirit of humour. I found the statue funny, not spectacular.
