If you are swiming lover...definitely not for you. Sedan car can reach, but this is only for those eoho just want to put their feet into the water and sit to have a barbecue. It is very muddy when you enter the water. Water is not something clear. We didn't like it at all because we like to swim and snorkel.

Around 75km drive out from Doha on direct freeways nearly all the way. Beach is set on a large inlet with shallow water very popular with Kite Boarders rather than swimmers (water shallow and a little muddy). Beach is only 200 metre drive off the road into Zekreet village manageable with standard car as well as 4 x 4. No real facilities but great views and a nice day out sitting in the fresh coastal air. If you have a 4 x 4 there is a fascinating Limestone landscape to explore with amazing features from years of wind and water erosion. There is also a disused film set to explore but this was closed on day of visit due to Covid restrictions, but it is mainly more of the same limestone formations with purpose built structures atop of some of them. Well worth a trip out from Doha.

Zekreet with the limestone rocks, the ostrichs and the oryx is a must see in Doha. The scenery is awesome and go for a swim don't forget your snorkel. Sealife is beautiful around that area.

A secluded beach with thick white sand with rock formations at the backdrop very close to the Film City. We spent more than two hours of driving. It is a great idea to explore the rock formations. Assure that you have plenty of time ahead for your return trip, to avoid getting lost. Much of the ride is off-road.
No shelter, we did not swim...just pleased with the experience!

Just over an hours drive from downtown Doha, the tiny hamlet of Zekreet on Qatars west coast is the gateway to some stunning scenery and even more stunning features.
To get to Zekreet you take the newly completed Dukhan Highway; a very wide motorway that takes you from the built up city, through Doha's expanding suburbs, and out into Qatar's limestone based desert plain...watch out for raining camels!
Following signs to Zekreet off the Dukhan Highway, you will see the turquoise waters of the Persian Gulf after a short period on your left and what is, Zekreet Beach. This beach is great for windsurfing and the sea here is often filled with them and kite surfers. But if your just after a swim or relaxation never fear...just read on!
Opposite Zekreet Beach and the other side of the highway, you will see some tracks leading off into the desert. Take my advice, take a relatively short drive off road and you will find the most amazing landscape and rick formations. But, be warned - although you can drive some of these tracks with a standard car, be careful. Don't go too far off the main highway and consider using a 4x4.
Having seen the 'luner landscape, head carefully through Zekreet village itself and a short distance on the other side you will see the remains of Zekreet Fort. Do go and experience this as it's a great piece of historic value. After the fort a semi tsrmaced and hard road will bring you to more stunning beaches, more scenery and more wonders.

I absolutely love camping here. Not too far away from the old desert film set.
Great location, peaceful and stunning. Really enjoy the sunsets here, with such clear water

Maps.me or google maps are definitely a must have when you're visiting the beach! We met a group of men in a car on the way who was kind of lost, so prepare to get lost if you're not familiar of the place. The beach is extremely clean, and there are other sites to view (lost city and incredibly fascinating rock formations) while on the way to the sand bar, which apparently is on the edge of Qatar.

In My option if you are only going to do 3 beach day trips in qatar this is one of them, the other two being furawit with the turtles and Inland sea. Follow the Dukhan high was out towards Dukhan past the mall of qatar. It takes around an hour, turn off at the signs to zekreet and the Cuban hospital. Come off the highway and continue towards zekreet, you will come up to the town and take the left track through what appears to be the back end of a town, after a couple of meters you will come out into the open again and off slightly towards your right you will see the black specs of the East West West East sculptures by Richard Serra, take a moment to climb one of the outcrops close by for a good perspective. Once that is done wind your way through the sculpture by car and once you get to the end keep left with the ocean on your right. It's a good spot to put FILM CITY in google maps and just follow the road, you will come to a fence and an open gate, go in through the gate and you have entered Brouq Nature reserve, keep an eye out for the Orynx. Follow the road up to Film City apparently built for a movie set. It's fun to explore and sometimes there is a guy offering tea or snacks. Climb up the little towers etc. Once done go on approximately another one kilometre to mystery village some weirdly built circular huts, one in particular is worth all the pictures on a little pinnacle, it is possible with a bit of scrambling to get up to it if you are adventurous. Follow the little valley out and you will see the beach in front of you. Pick a spot, a little further up the beach tends to be less rocky, it's worth brining swimming shoes if you have Sunsets up here are amazing. Camp any where you feel like, just make sure you are above the high tide water mark, the roads are all manageable and it's possible to get all the way to the beach without any deep sand, so if you are nervous of off reading there is no need.

Its a nice beach for a change in scenery but getting into water is difficult as the rocks are very sharp and slippery.

Here on a filming trip. If you were prepared for a long 4x4 GPS drive to a beach this is worth doing. Surrounded by stunning limestone formations, crystal clear but very salty water and perfectly clean beaches with nobody in sight this is the place. Apparently in the "winter" months there are a few more people around but the area is so vast that it surely can't be a problem?

I am thinking about making a day-trip to Zekreet from Doha. I would get up early in the morning - back in Doha before sunset. How much would a private car with a driver be? How about taking a local bus?

Hi! You can make an inquiry at this tour agency here Golden Adventures Qatar. We went there yesterday we left from the house 6am and came back around 11. It was worth it.

How is it this time of year? Thinking of going in the next week or too. Is t too windy? Would it be too cold at night?
Written December 4, 2016
Pretty much anytime of the year camping is fine, but yes as per the answer of John S above, evening wise it will get cold, so warm clothes and plenty of fire wood.
