We have taken the unique position for a Senggigi based Dive company as we do not combine our mainland guests with our sister dive companies based on the Gilis. I haven't done a review before, but had to because this experience was so good. Our instructor Epoel was great. If you are nervous at all in the water or or nervous with the exam side of things Epoel was very calm, supportive and patient. We got to do the course all by ourselves - while based at the holiday Lombok resort. This course absolutely changed our lives and has been the best thing we ever have done! The diving was stunning, and the company providing the course is highly recommended.

I had a great experience with Blue Marlin Dive Senggigi.
It started while being remote in Jakarta and the ability to arrange everything via mail. Maryam has supported me swiftly and completely, providing me with all information needed and answering all my questions. Payments up front can be done via Wise and Paypall, guaranteeing you from a spot.
On the day itself, if you stay within the pick up area, you are picked up from your hotel and brought to the dive center location. Here they help you to get the right equipement ready for your dives.
From there on, we were brought to a small harbor where we got on a boat towards Gili T to pick up the air tanks. Blue Marlin Dive has several locations, and one of them is on Gili T.
The dive sites are reviewed on the day itself based on weather, current and business. We started with Shark Point. Beautiful location where we saw a white tip shark, turles, cuttlefish, moray eels and lots of marine life. It was a light drift dive due to the light current.
After the dive, we had lunch on Gili T, where you have more then enough restaurants to pick from but I ended up at their own restaurant and had a delicious poke bowl.
After the hour break, we went to dive site nr 2 which was Bonti near Gili Meno. Lots of marine life, spotted a big octopus and a dozen turtles around one spot. Again light current so a drift dive.
During both dives, our guide Husnin indicated us where to go and where to look. He is very calm and give you quite some freedom to explore for yourself.
After the dive, we were picked up and went back to the little harbor. We were then dropped of at our hotel(s), where you could ask the guide for his information and the stamp to complete your logbook.
I had a very pleasant experience and I am happy to add Blue Marlin Dive to my network of diving centers. Can't wait to come back to Lombok to explore more! 🤩

Our family loved our diving with Blue Marlin Dive Senggigi in Lombok.
Our fifteen-year-old daughter had done her confined water dives in the UK and we wanted her to do the open water part out in Indonesia. We made all the arrangements via email with Maryam, who was absolutely superb in giving us all the necessary info, answering our questions and taking payment via Wise.
On the diving days, we were picked up from our hotel and driven to the dive shop in Sengiggi, where the friendly, professional team helped us get kitted out. It was a short but lovely boat trip (by traditional wooden boat) out to the dive sites and on most of the dives we had the boat to ourselves – along with the boat crew and dive master. Our dive master, Epoel, was really lovely and made our daughter – who he was teaching – feel totally relaxed and confident.
The dive sites were all great. Amazing visibility and loads of turtles and fish. Izzie also saw her first white tip reef shark.
We totally recommend Blue Marlin Senggigi in Lombok!

The diving was fantastic! We did six dives over three days (trying to get our sons' dive numbers up) and they were all great. Staff were very friendly and capable. Staying on Lombok meant an hour trip each day over the Gili Trawangen, but we found the slower pace of Lombok relaxing. We didn't do much at the resort, but happy with the rooms as all we used them for was sleeping. The company was able to arrange everything.

Having started his Open Water certification in the UK, our son completed the course while we have been on holiday in Lombok. Saeful Bahri was an excellent instructor and very patient and clear with his instructions.
While our son did the course my husband and I enjoyed snorkelling around the Gilis with one of the other instructors who was excellent at pointing out things to us.
What a beautiful place to complete the course and we are planning a return to Blue Marlin for future dives and courses

Dove with Dave. Great experience. They provided all the gear, and a very nice 2 tank dive. I'll dive with them again. I just wish I had more time for diving on this trip.

This is a followup to my dive buddy's review, and the management's response. My buddy's gauge was fluctuating, which means it was malfunctioning, and they told him it was his fault, not the fault of the equipment. This was very irresponsible and just plain wrong - he wasn't getting enough air on his dives and felt sick for a day afterwards. I had problems with this company as well. I had asked for Nitrox, instead of air, days ahead of time, Stuart, the owner, said it was impossible. I decided to dive with them anyway (because other options were more complicated given transportation to the Gili Islands) knowing that I would be at increased risk of decompression sickness because I had had problems before diving on air. That morning I asked about it again, Stuart said that he would have had to order it a day before (after I had asked for it 3 DAYS BEFORE). This was when I found out that we were going to their shop in Gili Trawangan before diving, to pick up air, and where they DO HAVE NITROX. So I demanded Nitrox once we got there, and the shop there arranged it for me on the spot, giving me EAN 35 instead of 32 because they had one left over from the morning (it would take time to fill a new canister, which they did for my second dive). I would say both of these problems were the fault of Stuart in particular, not Blue Marlin Diving, which has several locations in the area. The plusses were that we had nice dives, the dive master with us, Paul, was good at pointing things out during the dives, and it was basically a private dive - just 2 of us on the boat. But the equipment thing was really bad, dangerous, and irresponsible.

I was sorry to read your Trip Advisor posting - and once again apologise for our limits at Blue Marlin based in Senggigi - as we are not able to provide all the dive options that our sister dive centre on Gili Trawangan is able to offer.
My original email explained the schedule and services we do offer.
In addition, why we have the unique dive centre position in Lombok to run our centres separately.
In response to your follow up email requesting Enriched Air - I went on to provde a more detailed explantion the reasons why we are unable to schedule these dives.
Knowing our limits from Senggigi, and to guarantee your Nitrox dives, I sent you three alternate options to dive elsewhere, to help fulfil your request.
(Information, I doubt many other business owners would have taken the time to provide).
One of the options was for the transport and book your dives with Blue Marlin on Gili T - as they do offer Nitrox dives on a daily basis.
With all this, you decided to join our daily program - knowing Air tanks would be our option.
On the dive day itself, I sat with you for 20 minutes before departure , to again apologise for not being able to schedule the Nitrox tanks. Also to provide as much information to allay your DCS concerns.
As it turned out, you were the only diving guests on the day.
We discussed, if it would be at all possible, and after checking with our sister dive centre and their daily program, we would try to reserve a Nitrox tank for the afternoon dive.
Upon arrival on Gili Trawangan, there just happened to be a spare full Nitrox 35pc tank from their morning dive program - that was not booked for you.
So your request to dive on 32pc for the morning - was not promised and clearly explained.
After consultation with the dive centre manager there, it was agreed you could dive in the morning with their spare tank.
Once again, I apologise for our dive option limits from our Blue Marlin Senggigi base.
I do however feel I provided as full as description as possible to our reasons.
The Air guage fluctuation - yes, I was very disappointed to hear about that.
I apologise that the situation occurrred in the first place.
With the best will, we service our regulators on an almost rolling basis with our equipment technician.
The 'waivering' air needle usually indicates the first stage filter has some sand / grit and needs a clean or replacement.
We really try to pre-empt these issues with regular maintenance.
Thank you for bringing these points to my attention - and once again I apologise.

The services offered - hotel pickup, r/t boat to various dive spots off the Gilis, which are spectacular - are outweighed by other factors: bad equipment and dishonesty regarding same. I'm a newly certified diver & I made this clear to the shop. During 1st dive my pressure gauge was fluctuating wildly w/each breath and my air supply was dwindling twice as fast as ever before - clear signs of a problem. I signaled this to the dive master and showed him, he did nothing. Between dives he told me this was because I was breathing too heavily - and since I'm a new diver I stupidly believed him. Same thing happened in the second dive, I was constantly short of breath and the dive had to end when I ran out of air very early. The source of the problem could have been a number of things, minor or major, but it was DEFINITELY a problem and it was NOT ADDRESSED. This is unacceptable in something like scuba where problems can literally be life-threatening. I recommend not using this company unless you are experienced enough to know when you're being given bad advice, and confident enough to insist on equipment replacement when necessary.

Really enjoyed diving with these guys while staying in Lombok. We saw turtles and reef sharks, so I got exactly what I came for. Professional guys! Strongly recommended!

It was a last min booking. Our hotel quinci helped us call around. Scuba froggy was Idr 1.5m for 3 dives Inc lunch but had 12 divers so we decided to go with blue marlin dive which was Idr 1.1m for 2 dives. The booking was easy and the lady was very helpful
Transfer
Next morning they picked us up on time at 845am. First to the dive shop to sign waiver. They never saw our diving licence. Then we drove for 40mins to the dock and transferred to the boat.
The boat was an old outrigger two motors. Neither of the motors started and after awhile one of the motor started and we were on our way. However ever a little way out when they tried to start the second motor the whole thing caught on fire. The crew put the fire out and we continued our journey to the Gili meno island which took about 30mins.
Dive shop
I had my own equipment but my partner needed a full set of equipment. The dive shop equipment area was run down and dark. No clean place to set up camera needed to do it in the boat. The rental equipment was ok. When we got back from the dives no clear space to wash my equipment. Very little tanks to wash and all were dirty. Again if you are bringing your own equipment it's a big hassle.
Dive
Our DM Dave took my partner who is a new open water diver through a complete briefing. In our first dive she had trouble equalising and the DM was patient enough to let my partner get comfortable and take her time.
We dove in Meno slope and turtle heaven. We didn't see much in Mano slope. The corals were not healthy there and loads of snorkelers at the end. Turtle heaven was true to its name was full of turtles. Everywhere you turn you saw turtles just at one point we saw approximately 8 turtles.
Surface interval
We went back to Gili meno for our surface interval which had nice sandy beaches to relax and grab lunch.
Overall the dive and the DM were good. It was the fire on the boat, the lack of clean space for setting up camera, lack of space and help to clean your equipment made it a 3 star rating
