- merkioTelford, United Kingdom60 contributionsFriendly, enjoyable and well organised. A great pub.I visited the Pheasant a couple of times over the past few weeks and I can honestly say I couldn't have had a nicer time, so I'm quite taken aback by the poor review below - I think that perhaps says more about the patron than it does about the pub! The staff were friendly, chatty and very helpful throughout our visit. Table service was prompt and attentive and the outdoor area well spaced and organised. There is a great range of drinks, excellent beer and plenty of gins! We have visited since indoor dining is allowed and although there were no tabled available for us we chose to sit outside (there is a marque with heaters) but a member of staff came out twice to tell us that there would be a table free and they would come and get us as soon as it was free and had been cleaned. It appears to me that COVID safety rules are being adhered to, with hand sanitiser points throughout the pub and notices about maximum occupancy on the toilets - on that note, I had no issues with the gents toilets, they were clean, smelt fresh and were well stocked with soap, hand towels and toilet paper. I would have no hesitation recommending this pub to anyone, be it for a quiet sit down and a cup of tea after some shopping or a night with family and friends.Visited May 2021Written May 22, 2021
- cmarshy5United Kingdom241 contributionsLove this placewhat a great pub. Regularly visit here and no matter what time or what day you go it always has a fantastic atmosphere. A variety of ages, no TV's no load music just good drink and good company. Everyone is friendly. difficult to get a seat sometimes but people come and go all the time and most people offer to share tables. They do a great pork pie and a great meat and cheese platter. Staff always friendly and there selection of real ales and Gins are amazing. no other pub in Shropshire compares. although you don't see many kids they are very welcome and are often bought by grandparentsVisited February 2020Written February 9, 2020
- Maureen PTelford, United Kingdom95 contributionsExcellent pub in WellingtonExcellent customer service and beers many brewed on site also a good selection of gins. The pub have excelled throughout the pandemic whether it be beer home deliveries or various guises of outdoor and indoor service. Will continue to support this excellent business.Visited May 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2021

We like this pub, but not prepared to put up with piss poor organisation.
Having pre-booked a table for last night, and travelled several miles specifically to get there, a dumb young blonde, couldn't even apologise for their inability to seat us.
We were left with nothing but a sickly grin, instead of the pleasant evening that we had planned.
Get yourself sorted and look after those that would like to return, but won't because of having their time wasted.

Popped here on spec ona saturday evening and were welcomed into the outer marquee for a few fabulous beers. They could have said no, but ensured we would be able to drink and leave before the table was reserved - which of course, we did. Reduced tables limit numbers, but with the outer area, everyone seemed to be accommodated even though it was busy with many reservations. Selection of ales was very good and the table service, clearing and cleaning all worked well.
Sadly, a few customers chose to ignore the staff's requests and smoke in the marquee, but you will always get the selfish few.

Best pub in Wellington. Traditional pub with half a dozen or so cask ales on offer including a few from Rowton brewery which is located at the back of the premises. Great traditional pub layout and ambience, friendly staff, foods looks delicious although I've never eaten here. This is out go to pub when we're in wellington.

I really do enjoy this pub and the staff are great. If you want a pint of good real ale you can’t go wrong, this is the place to be.
My only issue is dogs wandering around. It seems every time I visit there are dogs off the lead just walking up to people, climbing on the furniture and even being allowed to sit on bar stools. I am a dog lover and have visited numerous occasions with my pooch. However I accept that not everyone likes dogs and he is always kept on a leas. I wish that this was the same for everyone. It certainly appears that people are taking advantage of the kind hospitality shown by the staff.
It won’t stop me visiting but I suspect it may stop a few

I have been a regular at the pheasant for many years and it is a fantastic pub with some of the best real ales in the area. During the current crisis, I am taking advantage of their home delivery service, enjoying great quality rowton ales at home. Delivery service is brilliant and so are the prices. Hopefully they will be back open soon as I am missing the atmosphere. Number 1 pub in Shropshire, no question.

I visited the Pheasant recently and was certainly taken aback by the general lack of welcome and friendliness of the staff.
I know we are in difficult times and the pub has been closed for quite a while but I thought that actually that may have given time for certain changes.
The male toilets are a disgrace, they smell, look unclean and the floor wet due to what appeared to be 'splashbacks from the urinal. Surely some refurbishment could have been carried out whilst closed. I obviously don't know about the female toilets.
The male staff that were working looked totally fed up and miserable. The female staff waiting on, were doing their best and at least were chatty and enthusiastic.
All in all a disappointing visit. Not the place to go if you are feeling low and need a pick me up, all that was needed was the Smiths to be playing in the background to make the evening even more depressing.
I'm hoping that things will improve once fully opened and the lads will at least try to look as though they are enjoying their work and be a bit more welcoming.

Called in for quick lunch. Great cheese and onion roll, soft fresh bread and packed with filling. Friendly staff great choice of beers. Place was packed, obviously many regulars. Lunch menu basic - rolls sandwiches jacket spuds- + a curry and a chilli. Lovely and clean, very impressed.

Had a very enjoyable dinner at this pub close to Heathrow airport. Instead of beef Wellington had a delightful veggie version in pastry

Pop in here quite a bit for the real ale but the smell from the men's toilets was absolutely overwhelming - my husband went to use the loo and he said it was filthy and awful nothing a few bottles of bleach would not sort! !!- for goodness sake clean them!!! What does this say about a pub that also sells food - not good
