Shoe Trail to the Halo
Aug 2021
Walked from Whitaker park following the she trail, bit steep at first but after you get past the ski slope it is a bit easier, loved the ramble and it was beautiful weather. We had a toddler with a small buggy, it proved a bit tricky at times, in certain areas of the walk, but we carried it when necessary. The dog had a fab time, as did we all. It took us 2 1/2 hrs but would have been quicker if we didn't have a toddler wanting to walk a lot of the time too :-)

Amazing Viewes
Jul 2021
A great location, you can see for miles. Sadly, the information boards need renewing and, often, the lights on the panoptican are dameged or vandals have tied swing ropes to it. Still a great walk to try out, just for the views.

Family walk to Halo
Jun 2021 • Family
Very nice walk from rawtenstall, through Whitaker park and past the ski slope then across to the halo, which has had the path just before tarmacked from previously being loose stones. Amazing views today on a lovely 22 degree sunny day and my 4 children enjoyed the walk , then for a bonus one of the houses on the way home had some duck and hen eggs for sale at only £1 for half a dozen.

It’s always a nice walk up to the Halo panopticon, especially on a nice sunny autumnal day. Beautiful views today.

A great walk for all.

Spectacular views
Dec 2019
Well worth the short walk up to see this and the panoramic view that comes with it. You can watch the clouds roll in then enjoy a lovely coffee in any of several little shops down in the high street.

Visit as the sun goes down
Oct 2019 • Family
It was cold but dry and we walked from the town. Well worth the walk. We could just about see the lights coming on but were not disappointed. Great visit and free

Good Dog Walk

You can park in the carpark adjacent to Haslingden St James Church of England Primary School. It's a free public carpark but you may struggle during school hours. From here it's a very short walk through the church yard onto Church Rd, turn left onto High Street and the road up to the Halo is on your right, called Higher Lane.
I followed the winding single track road up, stopping to squeeze in to let a few cars get past, then reached the Halo in about ten minutes. There's a great couple of information boards and you can walk all around and underneath the structure. The benches dotted around the place provide relief and show the best locations for taking in the remarkable views of the Rossendale valley.
We walked back using the footpath through the woods which brings you back to the lane.
A great place to visit, will return in the summer.

Nice walk but area not cared for
Sep 2019 • Couples
We parked at the bottom of the hill as the road was narrow and limited parking at the top. Looks like the area hasn't been looked after as most of the signs have been removed and a bench set on fire which is a bit disappointing.
The Halo was ok and I suspect it looks better in the evening when it is lite up.
Worth a look but I won't be visiting again.

A modern art peice you should visit at least once in your visit to the area. there is a nice walk from the bottom road where there is areas to park as parking is limited at the top. Because it is based next to multiple farms can see cows and sheep grazing in the fields as you walk, you have a good view of Haslingden town centre.

Too bad visitors dont always use the bins provided as the pathway is sometimes littered with coffee cups and food packaging which takes the beauty from the scenery. this is a popular plaxe to bring children as the open space is clear enough for children to play unhindered.
Many dog walkers use this walk way, so please be aware if you plan on taking children (who are afraid of dogs) or dogs who are not good with others.

Amazing Views

Nice walk up... The road is narrow and I wouldn't like to meet another car if driving (parking is very limited at the site).

We had fine weather and were rewarded with spectacular views at the top.

The structure itself is a little underwhelming and unfortunately is covered with graffiti. There are also lots of empty gas cylinders littering the area and the police arrived as we were leaving, so I suspect are ongoing issues with antisocial behaviour.

We didn't see it at night, but other people's images show that it looks spectacular when it's lit up. That said, it's not a place that I would like to visit in the dark.
