When you go from Dehradun which is at distance of 45 kms from Paonta Sahib, from the riverbridge you can see the gurudwara, which in itself is mesmerizing. Once ener into the gurudwara, you are welcomed with a positive vibe, calm and peace in mind. Visit the main structure and the whole complex. There are also some small buildings inside the complex apart from a museum. Go the back side of the gurudwara and you will lost with the beauty of the flowing river, the bridge which I have mentioned above. When you are in any gurudwara it is advisable to have langar there and here it is also no exception.

We visited Gurudwara Paonta Sahib on a spur of the moment decision on our way to Nahan.
This is what is called God's way of beckoning traveller's and we entered the Gurudwar...
Tranquility and charming simplicity were the immediate impression one sensed as we proceeded to the inner sacred precincts...
There was a sense of calmness and serenity and all external noises receded to a remote background
The complex has a level overlooking the Yamuna and the river looked extraordinary peaceful for the mighty river Yamuna..and was later told of the story behind the taming of the Yamuna by the 10th Guru Gobind Singh who founded and resided for 3 years at Paonta Sahib.

I have visited this place after many many years and have my fond memories of childhood.
Myself along with my family and Cousion visited this place and felt at heaven
The Prashad Langar was been served with so much love and care that it tasted the best meal even we were not hungry at all.
People at service doing the Seva to be admired and learned from... Great place to take your kids and teach them how to remain grounded even after so much of success and wealth in life... Kudos

Ponta Sahib is a very beautiful places .. It is generally known for Guru Sahib Gurudwara. It is situated in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on the bank of River Yamuna.. The weather is serene over here and the grand Rivera hotel is also very good ,it provides all basic amenities which is essential for anyone..

If you are coming Paonta Sahib then must go to Gurdwara Sahib, you feel really relaxed. No 1 Gurdwara in himachal pradesh. Jamuna river is just back to the gurdwara. Also near to Hanuman Mandir.

It is located few km away from Dehradun on the banks of Yamuna river. You can go downstairs & see Yamuna river.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji reached Poanta Sahib in 1685 and spent four years here. It was here, the Dasam Granth was written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The Gurudwara also houses a museum which contains a lot of antiques and weapons used by Guru Gobind Singh during his stay.
Every evening the Sikhs would gather near Yamuna bank and hear the poets recite their compositions. One day at the assembly some poets complained that the river was very noisy and they found it hard to concentrate. At Guru Ji's request the waters of the river Yamuna fell silent. Even today the noisy waters of the river fall silent as it passes the gurdwara and then becomes noisy again down river.

A revered shrine of the Sikh religion, situated astride Yamuna River in Paonta Sahib, where the Tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh rested and meditated for about three years. The legend is that the gushing waters of Yamuna River made lots of noise and disturbed the Guru's meditation. The Guru ordered it to be Calm and the portion of the River flows calmly where the Gurudwara is situated. Entrance of the Gurudwara has several boutiques selling souvenirs of Sikh religion. After entering, the Shoe House is located where one can deposit one's shoes as one has to enter bare feet and head covered. On the right is the place where one can buy "Prasad" for offering which subsequently is distributed to the pilgrims visiting the place. Shri Guru Granth Sahib is kept on a high pedestal in the Hall where one pays one's obeisance. There is "Langar Hall" on the LHS of the Hall which serves hot meal to one and all 24X7. There are rooms to stay for those who wish to stay overnight. Gurudwara Sahib provides solace, tranquility and peace of mind.
