Very cosy and charming homestay
Mar 2019 • Solo
I spent 2 nights in march 2019 and I was delighted by this homestay so charming, cosy and quiet, with a lovely family and beautiful view of the lake and the mountains. Rooms are very nice and clean, beds are comfy, there is hot water in the bathroom. It was a very nice retreat and perfect to rest after a trek !!

Sikkim!
Feb 2018 • Couples
Don't miss it if you are travelling in Sikkim !!!

We stayed 6 nights in Deepen family homestay and it was really wonderful!

We arrived by walk from Pelling and after 6 hours trek we were soooo happy to met Kesang, the 11 girl's family, in the path. She invited us to stay in their place and we were welcoming by a hot mint tea and kind smiles!

Bedroom was really confortable, the best we had in our travel!!! Food is organic from the garden or the neighbours and sooo good! You could go with Kesang at the end afternoon to catch milk from the neighbours cows!

We were their in february so it was a little bit cold at night but there is hot shower and fire at night!!! You can chat and sing with Deepen at night! He loves music!!!

There is many things to do there, visit the holy lake, the pretty village and old monastery, trek to the holy Tara Cave with best view ever to the moutains and sacred lake, walk to the waterfalls or just chill out in the peace and quiet garden!

Deepen is doing a meditation room which seems really nice and plans to build a yoga house in few months, these will be paradise to practice in this wonderful place with mountains view!!!

Thanks to you all guys! We will remember our stay with you for long time! Hope to see you again very soon!!!

Paradise in West Sikkim

Deepen and his family were absolutely amazing hosts. The hike up the hill is worth every step, you get to a beautifully secluded homestay with brilliant views. The meals are excellent, fresh vegetables from the garden and plenty of love. The hiking around the homestay is not to be missed!!

Beautiful eco-retreat in a lovely welcoming homestay
Aug 2017 • Couples
We stayed 2 nights here after a gruelling trek from Pelling to Lake Khecheopari. It was the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate for a few days. The family are very friendly and welcoming and it's so nice to stay in such a peaceful, secluded location. The food was great, everything was organic and fresh from the garden or local village (we literally watched the family pick our ingredients for our meals) and all meals were the same as the family, making it feel really homely and nourishing. The rooms are clean and light and a meditation room is in the process of being built which will add to it's charm. Deepen also has great knowledge of the treks and attractions around plus the history and culture of the area. Great value for money and an authentic Sikkimese experience. Can't wait to go back and stay with these guys again!

Beautiful location, beautiful family
May 2017 • Couples
We stayed 3 nights in this eco-retreat, and loved every minute of it. Rooms are simple but comfortable, hot water worked throughout the day unless there was a power cut, which was rare. Food was delicious, home cooked and healthy, with much of it grown on the property. Deepen and his wife are lovely and really helpful, they can arrange tours, taxis, porters, or just give directions. Location was the best point, high on a ridge above the lake, far from the noise and tourist bustle, this place really is a gem. Will visit again.

poor service
Mar 2017 • Couples
we stayed for two nights, but totally flop trip. we booked for three nights and paid 60% of the total amount at that point they confirmed but one day before we come to know that there was no room available after requesting them they arrange room in other home stay for one night and rest two days at there home stay. the way to the home stay is too too stiff and full of leeches. you have to pay INR 100 for carrying your luggage.
room and location is good with good view but toilet is common, only one for all and downstairs. in cold nights you have to come down for use it. geyser is not working, you will not get hot water before 08.00 am.
food is not up to the mark, they ask me that we are veg or non veg, but in non veg they serve only egg, they cook chicken in front of us but not for us. in lunch they serve local food nothing wrong with that but problem with the quantity and taste which is not sufficient for us. they serve dinner at 07.00 pm and breakfast at 08.30 am a gap of 13.30 hrs. they serve only tea at evening still have to request.
we faced major power failure for two nights but they dont have any alternate option, we have to ask for candle.
overall bad experience and most importantly the behavior is also not satisfying.

Comfortable home stay and lovely views
Oct 2016 • Couples
We stayed one night at this hospitable home stay, in October 2016.
Very picturesque village, lovely owners. Well maintained property overall. Wonderful 360 views over the green hills and valleys of Sikkim.
The property has 4 rooms, located on the first floor. The guest rooms are quite large for the standards of Sikkim and quite well decorated (wooden panels, tibetan mandalas etc).
The owners are very accommodating.

The only downside: the bathroom is shared between the guests (the loo and the shower are in the same space and it is located on the ground floor - you need to put on your shoes back just to go there). As there were other travellers staying there with us, on multiple occasions during that night I had a few unpleasant moments waiting to use the toilet while someone was using the shower. Hopefully, one day (rather soon than late) the owner Deepin will build one more WC in the property:)

Reading other travellers comments, I am surprised to read that the climb to the village on the top of the hill is considered as "steep". It was not my impression at all, it is true that the old villager's pass is not so well maintained (can be very slippery during the monsoon season) and it goes up the hill but it is not so technical or let alone "steep". Your life is definitely not in danger on this forest pass :) Took me no more than 20-25 min to reach the home stay from the bottom and I am a "petite" woman and I was also carrying myself my backpack (approx. 16 kg). I saw very senior people in advanced age do it barefeet or in plastic flip flops, so travellers wearing comfortable hiking boots cannot complain :)

A great homestay with lovely views and well cooked food
Mar 2016 • Couples
We stayed 3 nights at Lake view nest. We arrived very late as we had finished a three day trek in Sikkim so we had to climb up to the home stay in darkness and it was quite steep but with assistance by Dipen and his young boys who carried all our luggage it was fine. We had a good rest and explored this little village and went to nearby holy lake and also the monastery. The rooms are fine; beds comfortable and the bathroom is shared with all the guests. But there is hot water. Dipens wife cooks good local food and there is always tea provided. The family was very nice and we were well taken care of. The Lake view Nest can be recommended to people who like walking.

Great location and great hospitality
Jan 2016 • Couples
We stayed in this home stay for one night. The house owner Dipan is a very hospitable person and took very good care of us. We were walking from Pelling to Khichipiri lake with our backpacks. Dipan met with us around 5 Kms away from the lake and offered us lift. It helped us reached the lake before sunset. He also sent a boy to help us with the backpack from the lake till the homestay. It was a 45 mins steep climb from the lake.
It was extremely cold. We reached at around 6pm and we were extremely tired. The room (on first floor) was simple furnished and bed was comfortable.
Once we reached, we were given hot tea and were given hot water for bath, followed by bonfire, which went on till late. We had dinner next to the fire. The dinner was home cooked and healthy.
We were given hot water bags when we were ready to sleep. Hot water bags were like godsend in that extreme cold.
The breakfast in the morning was again home cooked and healthy.

Overall, we were very well taken cared of.

Comfortable home stay in beautiful setting
Dec 2015 • Solo
If staying the night at the lake, don't bother with accommodation around the parking lot. The trek uphill is short but steep, and when you arrive at the guesthouse you are greeted with views of the mountain and Dipen, his wife and their family. The rooms are wood-paneled, and the beds are comfortable and clean. Some day treks are available to a nearby river and a cave. The village is home to a peaceful monastery. Such a wonderful stay here. It felt like home.
