Who doesn't like to enjoy a peaceful day on a beach? Some beer, some seafood, the sea and the perfect company! Yes that's how we spent our last weekend and it was exactly what we needed after months of hectic work schedule.

Mandarmani is a small village in the outskirts of kolkata and also, is the nearest beach for the city dwellers.

We left early morning around 7 a.m to start the 190km drive.

Petrol? ✅

Tyres? ✅

Car documents? ✅

Journey snacks? ✅✅✅

It was my first time driving that long distance all by myself so I was extra careful with everything. After a 5 hour drive ( yes! I am a slow driver), crossing through some bad traffic and the last 5km stretch of rocky roads, we finally reached our resort.

Llyods Beach Resort is a beach front hotel where you actually have to drive on the beach to reach. It's a newly constructed property (barely 30 days old) overlooking the mighty Bay of Bengal.

We ordered some delicious chilli crab and prawns for lunch. The crustaceans were as fresh as they come.

In the evening, we went to mandarmani beach (right in front of the resort) for a nice stroll by the sea. The water was calm, the beach was less crowded and comparatively cleaner than most of the beaches in Eastern India. The sand was soft as pashmina and chocolaty in colour. We came back after some time after taking some brilliant pictures to enjoy the beautiful sunset overlooking the sea from our resort with the company of our dear old friend Budweiser.

We started the next day with some complimentary breakfast,  the good old "Luchi Torkari" (traditional bengali dish).

Outside the resort, were some small shacks on the beach. They serve you varieties or sea food, beer, coconut water, tea etc. and also offer you some foot/head/shoulder massages for a mere Rs.100 for each massage.

Food, massage,  swimming and photo sessions, that's all we did on our day of leisure.

It was a perfect weekend,  very peaceful and relaxing. Although, I just didn't take back beautiful memories from this trip but a few extra pounds too. 😄

Mandarmani beach is very attractive place for nature lover. If you want to enjoy with your family, this is the point which will give you maximum enjoyment. In my view August- September is the best time to come Mandarmani beach and book a beachside hotel which has private access to the beach. Seven km long beach has full of hotels. Every details are not possible here but I have enjoyed 4 days at the beach and can tell you that I never enjoyed other beaches in India as I have visited Puri, Digha, Rushikonda, Marina, Kovalam, Varkala, Alappuzha, Murdeshwar, Agonda etc.

Mostly you will feel that the entire beach belongs to you. At sunrise for the entire 20 km stretch there will be hardly five tourists and similar fishermen.
Un touched beauty miles and miles of it with NO GARBAGE.

Tranquil clean golden shining beach with good resorts and hotels just on the beach. with fishermen village just bit away . One can walk down to the villages at the time of low tide , because during the low tide the water recedes quite far in the sea. During the high tide the waves just lashes on the compound barriers of the hotels and resorts. It is pleasant watching the sea from the lawn of hotel during the high tide and to bathe in the sea during low tides.. As the place becomes crowded during week end it is advised to travel on week days. and enjoy the clean thing beach.

The total trip from Kolkata is around 3.5 hours. The nearest train station is at Contai. From Kolkata, catch a bus at Esplanade or at Howrah headed for Chawalkhola, or any bus headed towards Digha. From Chawlkhola there are cycle-rickshaws and auto-rickshaw which you can take to MANDARMONI. You can also hire a car from Chawalkhola for Mandarmoni. On the beach, there is no electricity and after dark the only sources of light are the lights of the small beach-side shops which get their electricity from generators or batteries.Red crabs are visible over a large stretch of the beach. There are lot of resorts to choose from.Better to go on weekdays if possible, as the resort owner's increase their prices of resorts in weekends.

Mandarmani is a beautiful sea side destination in West Bengal. It is a great destination for a weekend trip from Kolkata especially during winter season. It is at a distance of 170 kms approx. from Kolkata. The vast coastline of Mandarmani sea beach is often regarded as the longest drivable beach in India. You can also enjoy some water activities like speed boat and water scooter. The best time to visit Mandarmani is between October and February. We stayed in Belabhumi resort which is a sea facing budget hotel in Mandarmani.Don't forget to visit the Lal Kakra beach where you can see red crabs crawling around the 13 km long beach. Red crabs are a special attraction of Mandarmani.
Also do visit Mandarmani Mohona which is the confluence place of a sea and river. You can also do boating there and visit Tajpur.
I have made a detailed video covering the transport, food, tourist places, budget hotel/resort and budget shopping in mandarmani. The video is
available on my YT channel TravellersLens.

We Stayed at Shinjini resort Mandarmani which is a very good resort centrally located around market place and has electric connectivity all time. The rooms are very spacious and neat and clean. Toilets are well maintained and toileteries are offered. Though the hotel is directly not on the beach but all rooms offer sea view and are sea facing rooms. The hospitality offered is awesome and awestrucking as food quality is very good and serving with proper hyegenic wrapping is done. Special thanks Goes to "Babuda" the cook for making our stay memorable. As it is located on the main market so all basic needs and options are available, also beach is around 2 mins walk just crossing the road after the hotel campus ends. Also it is a very safe and secured place also for family trip with kids and also for unmarried couples. The staff behaviour is very good and also service is very prompt. The main advantage is that people visiting this place has the feeling of being at home. Such a calm and nice place it is. So guys its perfect for the nice weekend to be spent in a peaceful abode.

I am also providing the contact no. Of the hotel for booking and arranging all your amenities forvthe perfect weekend.

Good place to unwind.
Though it has become very congested, commercial shops and shacks have mushroomed.
One can still find ways to relax.
My favourite is to have coconuts and fish food.
The best part is, one does not need to travel long from Kolkata to reach here

Beach far from water. No good road to go around. Resort, I stayed called Candlewood Resort. Luxary room has leaky bathroom, water on the floor everywhere. Terrible service. It was not fixed after we called them twice and did nothing. No sea side room which I asked for . Driver room is far from hotel and they charge INR 1500/night for him.

Nearest beach from Kolkata. Beach is suitable for driving and one of the longest drivable beach. Fun to drive four wheel mud vehicles, boating also available. Next to a river mouth (where river merges with sea) , possibly that’s because dirt is visible on beach a bit. Lot of crabs are sighted, suitable for crab breeding possibly.
