We literally stumbled on Gilly and her art gallery on a road trip around the north of the island. It was a Saturday and though not stictly open she welcomed us warmly and took great delight in showing us her extensive art work. A Biologist now an artist is a fascinating combination as shown is her colourful and wide ranging works in both acrylic and watercolours all displayed over the walls of her home. We could have spent all day with her in her fascinating home.

Took a trip to Fitches Creek to see Gilly’s home and art gallery. Situated on the east coast of the island, tucked away a little hidden gem of Antigua. Quaint traditional houses, brightly couloured, all neatly set out leading to the waters front. It is a little trip out to get there but great to see another part of the island you would not necessarily take in. Fitches Creek is just charming. The gallery is Gilly’s home and you are met by Rum and Ginger, two of Gilly’s dogs. They demand the obligatory stroke and attention before you can browse the wonderful collection of Gilly’s work. There is something of everyone, water colours, acrylics, canvas and paintings on wooden boards.Mostly inspired by Antigua scenes, fauna and wildlife. I chose 3 lovely watercolours and I can’t wait to get them home and up on the wall. It is a lovely experience going to an artists home and workplace, Gilly makes you feel very welcome.

Hi Lorraine, I was delighted to meet you and your husband and also very pleased that you found some of my work that you liked enough to buy. It's always a pleasure meeting clients like yourselves who not only appreciate art but also the whole experience of visiting the Gallery. Thank you also for posting such a lovely review: I get quite a few visitors, all of whom faithfully promise to write up their visit on Tripadvisor - then completely forget! Many thanks again and I look forward to seeing you next time you are back here in Antigua.

Apart from Gilly's great artistic ability she has good taste and innovative ideas. Her gallery is part of her home with her art displays complementing her decor. She lives in a lovely Caribbean Villa beautifully decorated with her lively and colourful art. I recommended her gallery to my sister who visited with me and bought a lovely piece which she adores.

Many apologies for not responding to your review earlier: many thanks for recommending my Art Gallery to your sister and it was great to meet you both. I hope to see you again and do let me know in advance when you are coming and if you (or she) are/is interested in something specific. I have a new range of paintings in a rather innovative style now, viewable on Facebook and Instagram (my website is nearly full!) if you care to follow me. Many thanks again and so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. All the best Gilly

I have had the immense privilege of visiting Antigua on a number of occasions. The standout highlight, however, is a visit to Gilly Gobinet’s gallery. Gilly Gobinet is one of Antigua’s most experienced, esteemed and influential artists. Located in Fitches Creek, on the water, the gallery is a short drive away from a number of resorts. Entry is through an enchanting and utterly breathtaking garden and walkway. Adorning the walls are several pieces of eclectic artwork, in varying forms of media, appealing to a range of senses. To visit the gallery is to be transported to tranquility, and to be given a fascinating insight into Antigua’s rich, colourful, vibrant and illustrious culture. This will come as no surprise on meeting Gilly, who is unfailingly charming, gregarious, gracious and knowledgeable. In addition to being supremely talented and versatile, Gilly Gobinet is rare in that she is just as adept with watercolour, as she is with acrylic and oils, for example. Artwork can be purchased framed, or unframed, and Gilly has taken great care to ensure that it is easily transportable. The gallery, like the artist, is one of Antigua’s true gems.
