We found this castle in the Matra on a volcanic mountain peak, Varhegy (296m). It’s a very old castle from the 7.-8. century. We took a trip and visited this romantic and interesting place. We climbed up to the castle from the car park in 20 minutes. Opposite the castle you can see two rocks: Stonemen: the nun and the monk. In the castle museum we saw an exhibit about the life of the Turkish age. We were lucky because it was clear, sunny weather, so the view was fantastic. I think, it’s worth a visit, we spent an enjoyable couple of hours there.

A vár nagyon szép helyen fekszik, gyönyörű kilátás nyílik fentről. Sajnos be nem lehetett menni a covid helyzet miatt. Érdemes a közeli érdekes sziklákat is megnézni.

The castle is located in a beautiful location, amazing view from the top. Unfortunately it was not possible to get inside as it is closed due to covid. It's worth checking out the nearby interesting rocks as well.

This tiny castle is high up on a steep hill. There is a nice road to walk up and a fantastic view on the surrounding mountains from above. There are rooms and also caves inside. The place is nicely restored and restoration is still going on.

Fantastic views, great for history lovers, Good restoration, picnic areas. It's a steep walk to the castle. Could benefit from a Bufe or drink shop.

Beautiful view if you climb up to the castle around sunset. It literally took my breath away and I almost forgot to take photos! It is also a great walk up to the castle with fresh air and there are chairs if you need to sit down on the way up. :)

Nice ruined forest, now under reconstruction. Big part of the area can be visited, there is small museum showing the daily work of the soldiers during the Turkish domination in the XVI. siecle.

We visited the place in January. It was recently renovated and there are nice exibitions about the live in the castle and some general information on a video.
To reach it you have to climb a steep path but afterward you can enjoy the stunning view to the little village and the surrounding hills.
