SOMETHING ALL THE TOURISTS SHOULD KNOW is that a multimillionaire shipowner bought a big south part of the island, the south peninsula that points towards the islet of Ofidoussa... Even though it s against the Greek law, his huge private property blocks the access to all the coast of the peninsula with big walls. Even thought you have the law on your side the security will kick you out if you try to access the beaches by the coast.
This scandal blocks the access to 3 beaches on the peninsula.
Even more frustrating is that Ofidoussa is easily reachable from the point of the peninsula since it s just separated by only 50m of shallow water.
Independent visit of Ofidoussa is no longer possible then.
There is no shuttle to go to Ofidoussa, the only way is to book a day trip tour with other tourists....
We wanted to rent a kayak to go on our own but we ve been told that it is not legal to rent a kayak... So the only solution again is to sign for a day kayak tour..
We like discovering beautiful sites independently walking or hiking so we didn't do any tourist tour so we were very frustrated not to be able to enjoy this very promising part of the Island that was a reason we had chosen Shinoussa.
I think all the tourists should be aware of this issue before coming here so they avoid big frustration...

Crystal clear waters, small beach with some trees for shade. Accessible by car via a dirt road with a very short walk to the beach.

I went there based on the reviews and the place was what i expected. Great Blue water, perfect sand, some trees to find shade. Bring your own stuff as the closest shop/tavern is 15 min walk.

I am a beach bum and my last greek holiday was planned around the best cycladic beaches. I don't really care about sightseeing, museums, important landmarks. All I want is a perfect beach. Psili Ammos was lovely. Peaceful, quiet (at 4pm I was the only person left there!), with soft sand and beautiful clean and clear turquoise sea. Ok, so you have to navigate between some rocks at first (go in the middle, it is better) but then it is super lovely. 40 mins walk from the village or a 5-10 mins drive in a cab (don't forget to take Yannis business card!). I think bus stops there too but there was no timetable so not sure how often.

Easy walk from Harama rooms. Shallow and sandy walk into the sea - enough shade to sit under - beautiful.

Decided to reach the beach by foot but after 2 mins hiking, a local man gave us a ride :))

Incredible water and golden sand make this small beach just PERFECT. Gets windy when the meltemi blows but you can still spend great time !!!

There's a small family runned taverna in 10 mins from the beach where you can eat simple but fresh Greek food, don't miss it !!!

The beach is clean, sandy, with a number of trees to offer shade. Can be easily reached by foot in 30 min from Hora. The water is crystal clear and the bottom underwater also sandy.
