In my opinion the most beautiful beach in Schinoussa.
Some tamarisks, one of which is huge, offer shade and at the end of June, until 11am, it was practically deserted. Crystal clear water, sand and truly not to be missed.
There is no tavern and therefore it is best to bring water and something to eat, unless you go up to a small restaurant which is located a little before arriving but which honestly did not make an excellent impression on us from the outside.

From the hamlet of Messaria it is 400m - as it says on a sign - on a gravel road downhill to Psili Ammos beach, which translates from Greek as 'fine sand'. On the way one has to open a fence and shortly before the beach there is a water tank. End of May the first oleander bushes started to bloom.

The beach, which faces east and is thus slightly exposed to the Meltemi winds in summer, is about 60m long. 'Fine sand' is a bit exaggerated, in fact it is more a mixture of pebbles and sands, especially on its left (northern side). Here there are also some pebbles in the water, while in the sandier southern part one will find a few flat rocks. It doesn't get deep too quickly and the approach into the water is generally easy.

A few tamarisk trees offer shade and on the right (southern) side are some caves, that also offer a bit of shade. End of May, with nobody around yet, the beach was surprisingly clean and the water very clear. I enjoyed my swim.

SOMETHING ALL THE TOURISTS SHOULD KNOW is that a multimillionaire shipowner bought a big south part of the island, the south peninsula that points towards the islet of Ofidoussa... Even though it s against the Greek law, his huge private property blocks the access to all the coast of the peninsula with big walls. Even thought you have the law on your side the security will kick you out if you try to access the beaches by the coast.
This scandal blocks the access to 3 beaches on the peninsula.
Even more frustrating is that Ofidoussa is easily reachable from the point of the peninsula since it s just separated by only 50m of shallow water.
Independent visit of Ofidoussa is no longer possible then.
There is no shuttle to go to Ofidoussa, the only way is to book a day trip tour with other tourists....
We wanted to rent a kayak to go on our own but we ve been told that it is not legal to rent a kayak... So the only solution again is to sign for a day kayak tour..
We like discovering beautiful sites independently walking or hiking so we didn't do any tourist tour so we were very frustrated not to be able to enjoy this very promising part of the Island that was a reason we had chosen Shinoussa.
I think all the tourists should be aware of this issue before coming here so they avoid big frustration...

Small sandy beach, crystal-clear water, not organized. There are some trees for shade in the back. Excellent swimming, and quiet and uncrowded when I visited. Bring your own water (and perhaps food), especially if you are on foot.

Crystal clear waters, small beach with some trees for shade. Accessible by car via a dirt road with a very short walk to the beach.

I went there based on the reviews and the place was what i expected. Great Blue water, perfect sand, some trees to find shade. Bring your own stuff as the closest shop/tavern is 15 min walk.
