Thanks to Diego for contacting me; due to some issues internally, my trip was not within the normal channels. The receptionist that coordinated our trip seems to have used resources outside of Diego's policy and framework. Look forward to doing the summit upon my return to Colombia; thanks for your professional attention to your clients Diego. My tour was nothing short of promise and misdirection/deception(see photos)! When we arrived we were told to meet in the morning at 8am; we also had conversations stating that equipment was being uploaded for Tolima! Once we arrived in the office, we were told a group had left at 6am (also a landslide), neither was true! Later in the morning we ascended with no sight of a landslide nor in the evening was there a group from Solento Trekking heading to Tolima (finca Argentina). Prior to our departure, we were told that we'd meet the group or be taken solo to the base of Tolima. Neither was true nor did it happen! We were taken off course, even when I stated to the guide that this isn't the route! The tour we were taken on was a previous tour I'd taken to Paramillo del Quindío! This route is almost never visible; there's a valley which creates low pressure clouds which inhibits you from seeing what they promise (guide); this is not what we paid for and suggest you not do this route (save your money)! Lastly, I gave Diego the opportunity to make things right, he hasn't!.

We did the 2 day Frailejon trek with Juan. A nice hike but because of covid they only offered private guide, no groups which made it expensive (750.000 COP) and it definitely wasn't worth the expense. We were supposed to be given poles but they forgot, the snacks provided were mostly just sweet things, not practical hiking food, and the guide barely paid attention to us, just hiking ahead out of sight and waiting every few minutes. He never provided any explanation about the area, flora, or fauna nor was an encouraging presence. Barely a presence at all although he seemed like a decent guy. All in all their group tours may be fun but just isn't worth the expense for a private guide, just download maps.me and follow the trail there.

Recommended 3 day hike. I was on my own and could join a group via Salento Trekking. Together with our very friendly guide #Carlos Londoño we hiked through different landscapes. From jungles with small bridges, over mountain ridges to the top of a volcano. The route is demanding, but you will encounter different landscapes every day. I highly recommend especially with Carlos, who adapted the pace super to the group and fed us well :)

We had a great 3 day trip in Parque Nacional Natural de los Nevados with Salento Trekking. We began as two groups of four and four guides (one of whom was a trainee on her first day), but our group ended up preferring the hike selected by the other group. Diego, the owner and one of the guides on the trip, coordinated for us to change our hike and merge groups with no troubles. The hike was beautiful and we saw terrain/vegetation that was completely new to us. One of the guides, Christian, was very good at spotting wildlife to show us. Diego and the guides were also very careful to ensure that none of us suffered much from altitude sickness and that we were safe on the hike. I ended up being pretty affected by the altitude, so on Day 2 Diego took me and my boyfriend on a bypass route, meeting the rest of the group later in the day. Throughout the hike Diego shared many stories of the area and of his experiences. During the trip we stayed at two different fincas, both with kind people and very tasty and plentiful food. We even saw a tapir off in the distance at the second place! Overall, our hike with Salento Trekking was the highlight of our trip to Colombia. I'd highly recommend Salento Trekking: the guides are kind, competent, and caring, and the setting of their trips is stunning.

My friend and I did a 3 day trekking with Salento trekking agency on december 31st 2019 and we still can't stop talking about how amazing it was - despite the rain. The service is top knot from the beginning til the end : small trekking groups, good snacks, very safe guides, great communication ! We had Janier as a guide, great fun all along - even under the rain and while sliding in the mud ;) we also had the chance to trek with Carlos for a day as we got along with another group and merged with them on the 3rd day. Diego, the owner fo the agency, was also of a great help driving us to Pereira airport as we rushed to not miss our flight ! As I said, the service was great from the beginning til the end. I strongly recommend picking this agency !
