The falls were interesting but small and essentially right in this quirky old mining town that had seen better days. The best view of the falls is from the small viewing area adjacent to the pub just up from the historic old post office and a shame there is no path to the falls for better viewing. This town is 7 KM off the main highway but worth a visit and stepping back in time.

Considering they weren't even signposted, we thought they were a hidden gem. If it hadn't been for finding the toilet dump point, we would never have known they were there!

When I booked our accommodation in waratah it was based on price and location close to cradle mountain. I was so surprised to see the falls in the middle of the town, they are absolutely beautiful! In fact the whole town is a hidden gem.

A pretty spectacular waterfall right in the centre of town...no need for a long walk to spot this beauty! Easily viewable from the small park area in front of the hotel but you can catch a glimpse of the waterfall from the other side of the town too, where there is a waterwheel that feeds from a stream into it...such a pretty town to spend a little time exploring!

Hard to miss: best viewing spot is probably across the road from the pub. Picturesque falls - walking tracks nearby if you are wanting too wander around.

Waratah's waterfall is unusual in that it is situated in the middle of this small town. It's a rather small feature but one with an interesting history in terms of the town's mining history. Worth a look if in the area but not if it means going out of one's way.

We had intentions of going to the much-celebrated Philosophers Falls, on the other side of Waratah, but time got away from us so we had to settle on the much smaller and less spectacular waterfall located in the town. From what we'd heard of Philosophers Falls it was a poor substitute but there was quite a bit of water flowing over the Waratah Falls, which was good to see, and the small lookout near the hotel provided an excellent view.

It is worth driving to Waratah to take advantage of this waterfall and the Philosopher Falls even in winter. There is a power station you can walk and also a track from one side of the Waratah Falls to the other (although we didn't do it).

This whole town is picturesque and the waterfall in the middle of town is a real gem. It falls into a lovely tree filled gully. A nice grassy park where you can sit and just look. Really worth a stop. The view back over to the town is just lovely. Found it very peaceful.

We visited Waratah because my friend’s great grandparents lived there. We went to the old cemetery on Old Cemetery Road. What a lovely peaceful place, worth a look for those interested in old cemeteries. Waratah is a tiny town, but very picturesque. The museum and pioneer’s hut are worth a visit. But the most amazing thing is the waterfall in the middle of the town, visible from the park opposite Bischoff Hotel. Unfortunately we didn’t go to the hotel as we arrived before midday when it opens. We then took the road back to Wynyard through Hellyer Gorge which was beautiful. A lovely day trip from Devonport.
