This is a 'must see' if you want to go back in time to a wonderfully preserved and restored set of buildings from an ancient civilisation who were so advanced for their time. Wander round slowly, get a guide to explain. Great experience.

The ruins of Kohunlich are really very spectacular and incredible! The ruins themself are really interesting and you can really see and understand how the mayans lived a thousand years ago and walk on the same steps as they did, which is fascinating. At Kohunlich...More

This is a must visit, can’t stress this enough - the ruins are breathtaking. Don’t eat the height to the top stop you from climbing up (just take it easy going up and back down). I can’t stress this enough -one of the absolute wonders...More

Kohunlich is a surprisingly large site. It has bas-reliefs, a few temples, a palace and a ball court. It’s only a short drive from Chetumal, and along the route for anyone driving along Highway 186 to go Calakmul, Becan, etc. The complex of structures can...More

We chose to book an excursion through Holland America to Kohunlich, primarily because of distance, and time. The excursion was exceptionally well organized, and the motor coach was comfortable; the guides were pretty good, but did say some things that were erroneous.. however... the ruins!...More

Depends on age and their ability to enjoy the historic site. This is not a playground even though there is plenty of space. There are plenty of opportunities to get lost so you need to keep a close eye on them.
