Visited these ruins on an excursion off the cruise ship from Costa Maya. A bit of a bus ride to the ruins, about 2 hours each way. Got about 2 1/2 hours at the site itself. Unlike Chichen Itza and Tulum you are allowed to...More

What a wonderful place. In the middle of the jungle, with lots of wonderful ruins and lots of birds and animals around. The stucco “mascarones” (masks) are a must-see. Worth any especial trip to visit this place. and monuments.

I visited this site with my history-lover teenage son on a shore excursion while on a cruise. We absolutely loved it. We were only 11visitors from our ship, we had the site to ourselves for almost the entire time. The guide told us great stories...More

A very quiet, remote and amazing place. It still has jungle surrounding it, but the ruins themselves are fascinating. Well worth getting a tour guide, as it means so much more that way. We used Native Choice and thought it was great.

Wonderful find! We climbed the tallest temple for a view, saw the temple of Owls and temple of the Captives. Kohunlich is named for the area's giant cahoon palm trees. Site was elaborately planned and engineered as a complex of raised platforms, pyramids, citadels, courtyards,...More

Depends on age and their ability to enjoy the historic site. This is not a playground even though there is plenty of space. There are plenty of opportunities to get lost so you need to keep a close eye on them.
