We did a lot of research which tour to chose in order to actually get to the hidden beach on Marietas Islands as there seems to be a lot of tourist scam around. At the end we chose Ecotours Vallarta and they already gave us...More

A 50 minute boat ride took us from Los Peines Pier at the PV marina to the La Pared site north of the Las Marietas main island. Visibility was at least 70 feet, with a water temperature around 80F at 80 feet depth. All sorts...More

We took the Vallarta Adventures with Captain Julio, G and Jorge. While the waves were a bit rough that day, it looked as if we would not be able to swim through the cave and make it to the hidden beach. Alas, we got approval...More

These are absolutely stunning. We snorkeled here and saw some awesome underwater life! We learned a lot about the history from our Vallarta Adventures tour guides. It was sad to see the garbage from the ocean in some areas. Take care of our environment humans!...More

You won´t have to hold your breathe. You will swim with a life jacket and pass through the cave with your head up. If the tide is too high they won´t let you in. The water is cold but It is not that long of a swim so don´t... More

There wasn't one that I saw and we asked specifically, because i agree that less than 5 hours would be nice. The reason we were told was because it took about 1.5 hours each way just to reach the islands... Hope this helps.

ATV-Kukulcan Off Road Adventures Company (18 Replies)
We are in PVR right now. Has anyone done ATVs with Kukulcan Off Road Adventures? Just wondering if it is a good reliable tour. Their prices are reasonable compared to some of the other companies. also, how about Ecotours Marietas Islands snorkeling adventure?

I am not a fan of most of the ATV tour companies here in Vallarta and if you search there are plenty of complaints about many of them, from people being hurt, ripped-off (from "damage" to the vehicle) to the fact they are disruptive to the eco-system and residential areas. With that said, the only one I know of that people have found the most favorable and low impact to the local ecology is Unique ATV tours. They are located on Basilio Badillo- about two blocks more inland from the CMQ...More

Rain or storms prevent boat trips to Yelpa or Marietas? (2 Replies)
I forgot to ask earlier, is it safe to take day trips by boat / water taxi to Yelpa or Marietas Islands in September? By safe, I mean will they take you back to PV at the end of the day if it is raining / stormy? I don't really want to be stranded overnight somewhere unprepared. Does it rain so hard that buses of taxis would stop, or do they go rain or shine? I read posts about flooded streets and such... I would like a day in Bucerias too. Thanks.

The rain doesn't stop anything here, we have some streets that always seem to flood, but the water drains away pretty quickly. It seldom rains for more than 2 hours.

Marietas Islands is closed for next week? (1 Replies)
Visiting Puerto Vallarta next week can someone confirm if Marietas Islands is closed for next week?
October 23, 2016|
Response fromJ R|
Closed on Mondays, if you are asking about the 'Hidden Beach', new regulations and the tide will make it almost impossible to visit. For example, fins, masks & snorkels are not allowed, you would have to swim in unaided, plus the times allowed are like 9am to 2pm, no tour could get there that early and, if the tide is not right ???
