This was our to-go beach while in Chania. We went there by foot from Chania in the first day, in the sound of thousands of cicadas, we went there the second day when we got back from Elafonissi, the third day too for a long and chill day.
I don't swim a lot (like, I don't know how to swim, but I enjoy shallow clear water where I feel safe), but my partner does, and she liked it a lot.
First day we arrived late in the noon, found some shadow, there were people but not extremely crowded, and we also climbed the hill where the chapel is and watched the sunset. Got back to Chania by bus (bought the tickets inside the bus, they're more expensive this way, 2 EUR compared to 1.1 EUR if you buy it beforehand)
Second day we needed to unwind after the Elafonissi experience (which was amazing, but we had a long day) so we went to Agii apostoli again, this time by bus (bus 21). Drank some beers at the bar they have there, watched the sunset.
Third day it got windy and it turned into a sandblasting experience, so we moved to the bar and stayed there for the rest of the visit.
Now, the surrounding areas are not the cleanest, if you climb the hill to the right of the beach you will find a lot of used napkins and a lot of different unpleasant smells. The sand under the trees will not be the finest and will probably contain a lot of bark bits, little branches, pinecones and little rocks. It is possible that resin will seep from the trees and drop on your belongings or in your hair. It is possible to just end up in a windy day and get all the aforementioned elements blown into your face. Add sunscreen to that and you'll get dust stuck to you in a protective but unpleasant coating.
But the beach itself is nice, the water is clear and the bank is not steep. They have free showers to clean the salt off of you, free changing boots and free toilets (quite clean, they actually smelled nice). They also have a ramp that can take persons with disabilities close to the water.
A blue flag was waving in the wind so I guess that's a blue flag beach experience.

When other Evia beaches are windy, this one stays calm and the water flat, thanks to the large bay and harbour wall. Water is very clear, good for swimming. There are plenty of tavernas by the waterfront.

This is a beach with much in common with many beaches in that it is wet and sandy. It has relatively calm waves even on a red flag day but make sure you can cope with waves and some good shallow surfing if you're into that.

This is a beach with an amazing view of the sea and cliffs. You can rent 2 chairs with an umbrella for 7 euro or you can take your towel and lie down directly on the sand because there is a lot of place for it. There are not so many people so it's a good thing. While swimming in the sea, you can get a bit bitten by the fish :P really, it's not a joke. There is also a bar on the beach so I recommend you grab a really good frappe for 2 euro :)

Arrived here super excited to see how crystal clear the water was! Purchased 2 sun beds (without parasol) for €5. Got straight into the sea... only to be bitten and chased by some pesky fish! One even drew blood, got straight out the ocean and into the car!! Also the facilities are to be desired.

This is a local beach with lots of families enjoying it. Lovely shallow water and little fish who nibble your feet. Not an amazing beach but comfortable, friendly and everything you need in a relaxed way. Pretty views fo the bay.
Food and drinks available. Two loungers and umbrella for 7 euros provided by a very friendly man.
Spent two very relaxing days here.

Probably the most beautiful beach near Chania. We went by bus from the city centre and bought our tickets at the kiosk (1€20). The bus is n°21, on Platia 1866. We got off next to Iguana beach, we had to follow the way on maps since all the names on the bus were in Greek. We then walked till the little church called St Apostoli and hiked back to the city centre. Agii Apostoli was definitely the best beach. Very beautiful and peaceful. There were no dangerous waves like at the other beaches. This cove is also less touristy. After a refreshing swim you can walk along the coast, the paths aren't well indicated but you can't get lost. The landscapes between Agii Apostoli and the next beach are wild and rocky, but it isn't a difficult walk though. Highly recommended!
