The Holy Monastery of Saint David, which is located in the heart of a thickly vegetated area at the foot of the mountains "Kavalaris" and "Xiron Morot" opposite the village of Drymonas and above the village of Kalamoudi, is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior. Saint David, who lived from the second half of the 15th to the first half of the 16th century, he was a monk from a young age and had been the abbot of the Varnakova Monastery, when he came to the area of Rovia. During the revolution of 1821 he had an important action and was completely destroyed by the Turks in 1824. In the monastery, the relics of Saint David are kept, as well as his personal belongings, while a little further away is the cave where he was an ascetic.

We visited the monastery because my niece was baptized there this weekend. It was a really beautiful monastery, among pine trees. Quite with a very nice view. The road that leads to the monastery and the view from up there is enchanting. We strongly recommend for you to visit!

Coming down the road from the Waterfalls of Drymona driving towards Rovies you come to the Monastery of Saint David. For a non orthodox person the small courtyard monastery offers a small rest break. We arrived at the Monastery where I donned a kilt over my shorts for religious sensibilities. In the centre of the courtyard is a small church where 'sweet smelling' relic is found. Outside is a grave to a monk who became highly sort after for his healing abilities. While we stood outside in shaded courtyard the monks also kindly offered us coffee and cake.

For the orthodox faithful the church is highly visited and respected.

A spiritually nourishing place, especially for an orthodox. The monk who tended the church was very nice and helpful. We got lucky for we got there before a bus load of pilgrims arrived and the tranquility was quickly broken, of course this is of no fault of the
monk residing there. A place worth visiting if you are around.

When you are in the area this place is a must visit. We were there on a sunday, so the place was a bit busy. There was free cake and coffee. Beautiful place in a nice area.

Like many visitors, we discovered this beautiful monastery on way home from viewing ship wreck island from above. It was the elderly couple that drew our attention, selling fruits, liqueurs, and oils at the roadside, then you realise hidden behind is a beautiful monastery. The Monks were so accommodating, i was concerned that i was not appropriately dressed, but they were ok. Very informative about the history of the church, very peaceful atmosphere. The church is beautiful, well worth a visit.

Well worth a visit, full of visitors despite being off the beaten track. Then outside the monastery we bought 2kg cherries for just €5.00 - a real delight.

It is a beautiful and large Monastery with a beautiful view among the trees. You can visit and worship the church and see the small church as a basement, worship the graves and sip the coffee that they offer you to the archontariki
