The orchid house display was spectacular. It was well laid out utilising layers of visual impact and with lots of plants in flower. Volunteers man the area. They are welcoming and provide some good information.
Outside the gardens are lovely with lakes, walks, bridges and lots of areas to sit and relax or perhaps have a family picnics. There are also some specialty areas such as the Chinese garden . 2 sets of toilet blocks are available with in the grounds.
The gardens are alongside the bikeways/ walking path and the shopping complex just a little way from the esplanade. It’s really worth a bit of time to meander and relax.

These gardens are surprisingly large for a smaller town with plants well labelled. Stand out features for us included the small Chinese Garden, the Orchid House, the lake with its resident turtles, and the various trails beside a watercourse and through natural bush. We thought the planting of a tree for when a local resident turns 100 an idea that others could emulate. There is a cafe though it was early in the day when we were there and it was closed - unsure if Covid might be a reason too, as well as a children's playground, a laybrinth, toilets and parking areas onsite (though they might fill up in peak holiday season). A very enjoyable way to spend a peaceful couple of hours.

Lurking unobtrusively in Elizabeth Street at Urangan, right away from the commercial hubub is one of the most pleasant garden settings you can find. A large pond cum lake is the centrepiece, full of fish, tortises, ducks and waterbirds and surrounded by large grassy areas and walking tracks. Lots of places to have a picnic, and the orchid display is not to be missed. Well worth a visit.

This garden seems to be a work in progress. The garden is quite nice, especially along the little creek, with obvious board walk construction taking place. Generally though, signage is not used at all, with meandering pathways through the bush leading who knows where. The Chinese garden was a nice place and the orchid house was a must see but you need to be told of it's existence, otherwise you would miss it. The toilets were in a filthy condition. This place needs better management and or an increased budget.

The gardens are a wonderful place in which to take a peaceful and relaxing walk around the grounds. They are not particularly extensive but nicely laid out around a central lake, they are well maintained and most of the specimen plants are labelled. There is a lovely small Chinese garden and there is an orchid house. The gardens have ample shade and places for picnics or just for sitting and relaxing in the calm surroundings.

The botanical gardens were beautiful in sections and quite “natural” in others. The sections that are tended too are lovely and you can see that there is lots of maintenance happening at the moment. I look forward to coming back when the Chinese and Japanese gardens are complete. The Orchid house is a must see as is the lovely green space near the large pond which has the Japanese bridge.

Allow some time to stroll through these expansive gardens on Elizabeth Street. There are wonderful photo opportunities, picnic tables, an orchid house with a deck overlooking the lake and the Chinese Gardens. Pie and Pastry Paradise (the best pies in Hervey Bay) are right opposite if you haven't packed a picnic lunch. It’s relaxing strolling along the pathways between the trees or looking over the lake from the deck. It’s a perfect stopping point if you’re out cycling the old rail corridor or riding along the Esplanade (turn at Elizabeth St and there are several entry points. Relax and enjoy.

The Chinese Gardens at the Botanic Gardens is very well designed. There are lots of turtles and fish in the lake and the paths are well maintained. The Orchard House is a must just check the opening times before you go.

We took the kids for a walk through the gardens and there are a lot of beautiful areas to see. We sat and watched the fish, turtles and eels for ages in the big lake, and the Japanese gardens are devine. Worth a walk around, if you have time to spare

During my short stay in Hervey Bay, it was one of the places I wanted to visit very much, as I love orchids. But for some reason it was closed. It was very disappointing! So we drove along the Botanic Gardens on our way to the airport.
