I used this ferry twice. The trip takes about 20 minutes and you can get out of the car and walk on the deck during the transfer. The landscape around the bay is beautiful, so nice photos can be taken from the ferry. The ferries are big enough to carry not only cars but also buses.

The ferry saves a lot of time. Since several of these ferries travel across the bay at the same time, there is practically no waiting for the transfer. As soon as you buy a ticket, you get on the ferry. Pedestrians can even use it for free.

If you drive the long way around to Kotor, continue on through town for another 11 km or so to catch this ferry for 4,50 Euros. You don’t want to drive all the way back on the same route. I thought the drive from Kotor to the ferry was super scenic, driving past small beaches, neighborhoods, and narrow one lane roads. Be careful, though not too much tourist traffic. We did not have to wait at the ferry, just drove right on. Great side trip - highest recommendation.

Our coach used this ferry crossing that is only 5 minutes across Kotor Bay in order to cut short the distance of our travel from Kotor to Dubrovnik. But the scenery is not bad as well.

You'd wait before the ferry leaves 12 minutes in the worst possible case even at 6 am all year round. Ferries come and go, price is 4,5 E per car and all its passengers. There is a booth close to the ferries to buy a ticket. There is a toilet in each ferry.

Touring round the bay of kotor in a hire car we didn't really want to go back the same way, so when we came across the ferry terminal that was a great alternative.
For a car and 2 people it was 4.5 Euros, no booking necessary the ferries only take about 10 minutes to cross and there were 4 of them running at the time.
Returning back to kotor was then so easy via Tivat.

The ferries run regularly throughout the day and are used by locals as well as tourists. It is well signposted from both sides with filter lanes to help minimise congestion on the tiny coastal road.

The ticket office is a small hut, right by the ferry on both sides, so you will see passengers spilling out to go and purchase a ticket (4.50 euro each way per car), while the driver continues to edge forward. Lone drivers have to abandon their cars when they get a bit closer.

The Kamenari (Herceg Novi) side is much better organised with vehicles queuing at the side of the road while they wait. On the Lepetane (Tivat/Kotor) side, it is a free-for-all with cars pushing in, trying the jump the queue. I missed 3 ferries by being too polite; by the fourth I was pushing forward with the best of them!!

When you get towards the front of the queue, an attendant will come and get your ticket and direct you on to the ferry where another attendant will show you where to park. You can then get out and stand at the side to relax and admire the stunning scenery and hopefully catch a slight breeze. The crossing only takes about 5 minutes; do make sure you are back in your vehicle and ready to move as soon as the ramp is lowered.

The ferry undoubtedly makes the trip between Herceg Novi and Tivat or Budva much quicker, but we found it was easier (and even more scenic) to take the coastal road around the bay to Kotor as the road was much better with 2 lanes all the way.

Very well organized, not expensive ( 4,5 euro ), even in mud July you do not have to wait more than 15 min because ferries go one after the other and it only takes 10 min to the opposite side!!

We took the ferry as a short cut when travelling from Dubrovnik to Kotor. The lady at the ticket office was sullen just pushing the ticket and change back at me without a look or word. The men organising the loading were rude and abrupt. The ferry itself was ok and took about 10 minutes. When leaving the ferry the signs said turn left for Kotor which we did, we turned back after 200 metres as we believed that we must have gone the wrong way because of the state of the road being narrow and in bad condition. It turned out that we were in fact on the correct road after all and had to turn around again. The 15 km drive was very stressful, mad drivers and lorries on such a narrow and unkempt road with deep ditches on the edges in many places. I definitely would not recommend this route if you don't have to.

We were very surprised that it runs non stop 6-24h.. You wouldn't believe but it really has that much traffic.. Great to cut some 30km of the MNE roads with speed limits to 40-50km/h.. One ride 4.50€ for a car.. Pedestrians don't pay transit.. Very effective!

Based in Dubrovnik we did a day trip to Kotor and Budva. The drive from dubrovnik to Kotor is nice mostly along the ocean so very picturesque (much nicer than the drive to mostar).

We then went on to Budva (don't bother! See other review) on the way back Google directed us a different way and on to this ferry. Not sure whether it was just because it was unexpected but what a pleasent surprise to get out the car and feel the sea breeze for 15 min.

Its fast, efficient, cheap and shaved about 30 mins off the drive time
