Wow! The best sunset in Greece. We had just come from Santorini and Oia had an amazing sunset but this one topped it. We had tried to follow Google maps to try and get there initially but it took us through some dirt paths and ultimately to a dead end so best way to reach is to go to the city center at around 630-645 and find a bar named Mosiac. From there the street running parallel to the water (facing the water take a right) is the one you want and follow it all the way up to the castle or one of the view points. There is a steady rush of people going up the stairs so will be hard to miss. Overall a phenomenal experience and a beautiful building but most importantly the highest point in the island (easily reached) to watch the sunset and get views of the entire island.

So, it's interesting to see the old castle walls but there really isn't much inside. Extremely difficult to find, the streets are a maze. However, amazing panoramic views once you get to the top. Tip: behind the castle area at the bottom of the hill is an elevator that will take you to the top. Easiest way to get there, absolutely worth the 1€.

The Castro (castle) is the second highest peak on Milos island. It is easy to find from Plaka village and it has apx 200 stairs in order to get to the top.
The rewards are great though. Please bear in mind that there is no shop or anything on the top so be prepared. Entrance is free and it is good to go around 5-8pm (depends on when the sunset is) in order to watch the magestic sunset from the top. It is an extremely romantic place and on the middle of the way there is a Greek Church where you can have a stop and still look at the views.
You cannot go to Milos and not see the sunset from Kastro.

*For the extremists...you can also watch an excellent sunrise from there if you can wake up at 5am.

From the castle you can see all around Milos. There is not much info or anything to experience this as a historical sight but I would recommend it for a visit. The place needs more cleaning as visitors seem happy to throw their empty bottles and other trash around..

A place displaced in time. It seems to have stopped in the Middle Ages. There was even a bard inside !!! An exhibition with ancient musical instruments very interesting. The place offers beautiful views and is very well maintained. Free entrance.

We were staying in Pollonia and visited Plaka & Trypiti during the day.
We walked up to the castle and the view was outstanding.
Can still see in my mind the Greek flag swaying , the white coloured village buildings stretching down the hill and the bright blue sea with a ferry cutting through it.
Perfect!

Venetian style castle, actually under renovation. Great view of Plaka and the bay, from the top. Amazing spot for sunset shots.

It’s a deception. The castle does not exist, ruined and there is a Greek church on top of it. Worth visiting only for the sunset view.
