Most tourists think Lumpini Park is as green as Bangkok gets, but hidden across the Chao Phraya River is the almost-island of Bang Krachao, known as the "green lungs" of the city. A 10-minute boat trip from Khlong Toey Port, it’s a vast area of unspoiled mangroves and orchards with little in the way of infrastructure. Many biking tours will organize trips to the area or you can go it alone and rent a bike when you get there.

One of the most popular destinations for cycling nearby Bangkok. Despite my poor cycling skill, I enjoyed everything there; the food, the atmosphere, the vibe, and the most important...the local people. They are very friendly. They helped me out with directions and stuff. One auntie, whom I rented the bicycle with, even came all the way from her place to... More

This little island can be reached from Klong Toey pier 5 mins boat ride. Once you reach there, you can rent a bicycle for 100 THB. The roads are well maintained, making it easy to ride your bike. We went on a Saturday, the local 'floating' market was in operation. We found some really interesting stuff there. The variety of... More

Our friends in BKK recommended and brought us to this market and green respite on a Sunday. It is not easy to find but Google map helped. Parking at the market took a while but worthwhile to explore with mainly the locals. The other places we visited around the ecotourism island are the park (good for cycling around or just... More

After finding your way there (there's a great post on the blog "Where Sidewalks End" with directions), the rest of your day will be full of adventure, exploration and fun! Having lived in Bangkok for 3 years, this was one of my favourite 'escapes' without having to leave the city. With bike rentals, raised sidewalks over swamps, houses on stilts,... More

My wife found this under things to do in Bangkok and it turned out most of the adventure was actually getting there from our digs. In a nut shell if you are board with Wats and royalty this is worth a visit. I am also going to sell this a little short as we decided to ride our bikes around... More

I had a day in mind that was similar to the previous posts. A day of relaxing and breathing fresh air; a day of riding a bike in the safety of an area without many cars. The time I spent here in the "green lung" was far from relaxing. It might be because we went on a Sunday but there... More

walked from Sathon to the private peir then hire the boat to cross over only 20 baht. Quite far away from the park so we need to walk. Along the way walking was amazing clam and peaceful. People is nice. You would rent the bike to travel around that place.

I think this place is a bit overrated because most of it looks like an average Thai village except for the small bike area. I find ko kret way better than this. For one time or just to take a break from the city it's ok.

One of my favourite activities in bangkok. If you want a change of pace from the busy streets of bangkok or just some exercise this is fantastic.
