Most tourists think Lumpini Park is as green as Bangkok gets, but hidden across the Chao Phraya River is the almost-island of Bang Krachao, known as the "green lungs" of the city. A 10-minute boat trip from Khlong Toey Port, it’s a vast area of unspoiled mangroves and orchards with little in the way of infrastructure. Many biking tours will organize trips to the area or you can go it alone and rent a bike when you get there.

Bang Krachao is no longer the "hidden gem" escape it once was, but it is still a very nice respite from the noise, pollution and hassles of Bangkok. Unless you're really intent on visiting the weekend market (I wasn't impressed), I strongly recommend that you visit Bang Krachao on a weekday, if possible. The "island" gets crazy with visitors on... More

Wat Klong Toey Nok is only 10-15 mins from central Sukhumvit, especially early on a weekend morning. Just beside the temple you can take a 5 min flat boat ride (10 baht per person) across the Chao Phraya river to Bang Krachao. Remember to keep your mouth closed since a lot of spray. We hired 2 adult bikes at the... More

After taking a boat at Klong Toei Pier I rented a bicycle at the M bike shop for 80baht. Then it is possible to go to Bang nam phueng market market where you can get good food on the spot or to take away. The park nearby worths a visit too.

We rented bikes and that was really lovely. Beautiful bike paths, beautiful trees and plants. Iguana's and birds. Then we went to the floating market and had a wonderful lunch. The Siamese fighting fish gallery was a little outdated but nice to walk around. Really a great day away from the city

One of the most popular destinations for cycling nearby Bangkok. Despite my poor cycling skill, I enjoyed everything there; the food, the atmosphere, the vibe, and the most important...the local people. They are very friendly. They helped me out with directions and stuff. One auntie, whom I rented the bicycle with, even came all the way from her place to... More

This little island can be reached from Klong Toey pier 5 mins boat ride. Once you reach there, you can rent a bicycle for 100 THB. The roads are well maintained, making it easy to ride your bike. We went on a Saturday, the local 'floating' market was in operation. We found some really interesting stuff there. The variety of... More
