This is a real theatre, and it looks and feels like a big one as you can find in big cities like Rome, London or Paris, but it only seats 100. There are three "floors" with private loges.
The building started in 1605 and became an official theatre in 1723. It is truly amazing to see this theatre. Entrance is free, but they do appreciate a donation.

We had just been up to see the Rocca and found it closed, but on the way back to the car we noticed that the little theatre was open (even though it said it was closed on Mondays). You can just walk in and put what you think fit in the box as a contribution and there are leaflets explaining the history. It is the oldest theatre built in wood in Italy. There are no anterooms, you virtually walk straight in to the auditorium so in the intervals people must have come out under the colonnades or walked in the square.
There are lots of these theatres in the little towns around the Marche area, not all of them in use, but this one was really special, and beautifully restored and preserved. All round the perimeter are little two seater boxes on three levels and in the main auditorium about 10 rows of very comfortable looking seats. The stage is quite deep and there is a deep blue stage curtain. As we left a man emerged from the office across the way and told us that there was small company of local players, who gave performances in the winter, assisted by various actors from a bit further afield.
It was nice to see the theatre so well looked after and regularly in use – a lovely intimate venue.

We went to a concer on a Sunday evening not really knowing what the programme would be . It was a "free" donations welcome concert and x2 elderly men. We're playing on the stage with some back ground recorded music. It really was wonderful total interaction with the audience who were all local folk. Some in the side boxes in this wonderful old theatre. Acker bilk stranger on the shore and other popular tunes were played over a period of 1.5 hrs . Some very enthusiastic Italian ladies were in the audience. A really good evening and excellent use of the theatre

A gem, no doubt, the oldest or one of the oldest wooden theaters in Italy. Set in a palace, the “Palazzone”.
Run by volunteers it looks just fine, clean and tidy. Plays are still performed there
