Following a guided walking tour of the town we finished up at the museum. With not enough time to look around we opted for a cream tea. The staff were friendly, the tea itself excellent and we sat in the delightful gardens, enjoying the sun. Note: if you have done the free walking tour the cream tea is offered at... More

Topsham Museum reflects the town in terms of its size and interest. On display are ancient artefacts, geographical model of the town, and fascinating information particularly about the town's important maritime history. There is a cafe where, amongst other things, you may order delicious Devon Cream Tea to eat indoors or out in the sun in the lovely garden. The... More

I have not visited Topsham Museum for some time but when I did I learnt not just it's history but the character of the town itself. If my memory is correct you will discover a gem of a museum. Not the biggest but one of the most informative.

Topsham museum is contained within a wonderful dutch-tyoe house on Topsham's Strand by the estuary. As Topsham used to be a major port, the museum focusses on its marine history - with plenty of pictures and things to see. You get the sense of how people used to live in times past. On a sunny day you can also sit... More

Standing outside, deciding wether we should venture into the museum, or stay in the glorious sunshine, it was a difficult choice, and apart from the A frame notice board there is very little to draw us in. But we did, and almost immediately what an array of artifacts to see. Some exhibits like Maritime, and shipbuilding you would be expecting,... More

This delightful museum is full of a wide range of interesting artefacts and stories about this historic town and its relationship with the river and the sea. The displays are well arranged and there are things to make a visit enjoyable for anyone from 4 to 94. The museum also has a beautifully kept garden - where you can enjoy... More
