I was there on Thursday 14th November 2019, with the "East Devon Countryside Team" to do a scrub clearance by the footpath, to enable the bluebells to flourish in the coming Spring. I was there with 13 other people including the person leading the group and tasks, between 10am and 2pm that day, despite the cold weather. This was also the woods where I seen some local people do a cross country run.
What lovely autumn colours I seen on the trees at this time of year.

I was there for volunteer work on Thursday 8th August 2019. This woodland is a nature reserve, not far from the main road through Colyford. It is a lovely time of year to harvest blackberries when going along the footpath, walking to the woods at this time of year.

Different lengths of walk make this site accessible to all. A few well placed bird hides are little oasis' along the way. Very enjoyable.

Enjoyed a beautiful early morning dog walk in this woodland when I I was lucky enough to have the nature reserve all to myself!
Nice stream running through and informative boards educating people about the habitats within fallen trees

We visited this woodland as we were staying a stone's throw away and it seemed silly not to!
It's a lovely little woodland, we were the only souls in there when we went.
✨ Signposted from the road
✨ There is a map on entry to the woodland to show you the routes
✨ The paths were clean (no dog mess) which was a pleasant surprise
✨ Lots of lovely flora to enjoy - the foxgloves were particularly enchanting
✨ We completed the blue route in about an hour
Things to note:
✍🏼 It is an unstaffed woodland with no toilet facilities or refreshments
✍🏼 The paths are varied, some are quite steep, there are some uneven stretches and some raised tree roots etc, there were a few narrow stretches too.
✍🏼 Not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs

We often walk through the woods here. It is especially good at blue bell time when the sides of the slopes are covered in blue, just lovely. However at anytime of year there is always something to see and great to hear the birds singing. East Devon at its best.

Lovely wood, very quiet and peaceful, we only meet two other walkers the time we were there, lots of good sniffs for the dogs, and a stream for them to paddle in, our elderly dog manged the 2 mile round walk, only having to be carried back up the field to the car.
We picked today to go there as the wind was very strong elsewhere, but down in this valley we were very protected from it- so very nice indeed.

Thank you for your feedback
The woods are a beautiful place to spend time walking and I am pleased you saw a variety of wildlife.
Although you are very unlikely to see them, the woods have nesting dormice which is very exciting news!
Thanks

A walk in the woodlands to revive your sole. This quit and peaceful place will revive you for the rest of the week. Keep an eye open for deer, bird boxes, bat boxes, moorehens. I even saw a barn owl once.
