It takes some effort to get to the site: a 700m walk on a steep, stone-paved path. But at the end you reach a unique and impressive site. Our trip up took about 20 minutes with a couple of short breaks on benches along the way. The first 350-400m is the steepest. The grade softens a bit after that and even has a short downhill segment just before you reach the top. The temple and sanctuary are both interesting, but the temple is the really unique element. Built to fit inside a natural cave, of marble quarried on the slope above, it’s quite a sight. Try to come on a cloudy day and bring water, even then. Be prepared to climb, but know it’s worth it.…

Recommended to go with gym shoes. It is a wonderful place to visit. It’s 700 mt uphills so bring plenty of water. There s a small parking at the bottom with the possibility of having fresh public water. Absolutely beautiful place

Such a beautiful landmark again hidden and tucked away in such a beautiful part of Italy. So hot the day we went, especially walking the 700m incline to the temple but well worth the walk!!!

The church was magnificent on the exterior and pictures don’t do it justice. The only complaints are as follows: more benches on the hike up and cleaner bathrooms.

This is one of the most photographed locations in le Marche but no photograph can do justice to this special place. The way the temple is nestled into the cave and it's perfect proportions enhance what would in its own right be a beautiful location, it is a must visit place. And please don't ignore the 1000 year old hermitage just a few steps away, it has its own unique atmosphere. Don't be put off by the reviews which mention how steep the climb is etc. They are not reflecting reality. To reach the temple it is a 700m walked on a paved road which slopes up at the start - it is easy! There are toilets here but disgusting is not a sufficiently strong word. Avoid at all costs! The parking at the start of the walk is very limited, not a problem for us on a wet May day (we had the temple to ourselves) but could be tricky during high season.…
