I hadn't read the reviews before I went, it's a shame. Indeed the part by train is top, qq explanations during the journey, a most friendly welcome with a smile, everything was perfect. On the other hand the oldest waitress on the boat ruined the second part of the trip: she talked to us like dogs (and still I don't treat animals like that), threw us the cards because we kept her waiting and was very annoyed because we didn't speak German and wanted to pay when it wasn't the time!! She "forgot" my ice cream, I think on purpose, and we brought one with a dubious spoon (unwashed) qd everyone was done. I think we all deserve a minimum of respect, and clearly none of us did. If this lady doesn't like the French, it'll be time to change jobs. Thank you for all future guests.

That steam train ride was really great. The staff, all volunteers, were happy to answer our questions, during the journey it is possible to go just behind the locomotive on a small platform. The only downside, the online Reservation can only be made with the cruise on the Rhine which in addition to having little interest, took place for us with an unfriendly waitress.
This is in any case something I strongly advise you to try.

Excellent welcome from the Volunteers who spare no effort in their explanations.
Real enthusiasts of the history of the train.
Few Volunteers but what diligence for the smooth running of their Association.
A good moment of sharing and conviviality.
Thank you and you deserve deep respect for your commitment.
The Angevins.

Positive points: steam train
Negative points: by train suburban and industrial landscape... without much interest
By boat, nothing to see, just the banks...they say they admire the fauna and flora...
I feel like I wasted my day, I
Fortunately the price is not exaggerated.

Its fun to take a walk around there, because there are alot of curious things to buy or just see. For collectors might be even better.

Had a chartered train for the morning.
After a very good introduction by Manfred, telling us of the history of the line within the framework of the wider history of the area, we enjoyed the trip. Steam hauled to the end of the line and back with a stop to visit the sheds and workshop, and supported by very good weather, this was an excellent outing.
Especially if you are a rail enthusiast this is a must, but it is also good for those who just enjoy the ride and the scenery.

Excellent excursion proposed by a Group of "veterans" in railways. Very interesting guided visit to old trains nearby. Efficient organization. We suggest to reserve in advance.

One of the few remaining opportunities in France to see steam coming out of the locomotive, smoke and escarbilles flying along the wagons and the whistle sounding as we approached road crossings. All this is possible thanks to the passion and dedication of a very friendly team of volunteers. The journey through the forest and industrial areas is interesting, the visit to the locomotive workshop is exciting, the rediscovery of the vintage cars and their wooden benches is nostalgic.
We strongly advise to disconnect this walk from the boat trip on the Rhine which is offered in a package of both Things to do; DO NOT MIX GENRES!!! the boat is not of interest, the staff is not friendly; the trip is uncomfortable in multiple ways.
