The stream profile chamber was closed for repairs on our visit, but the paved Rainbow Trail leading to and from it has lots of interpretive signs describing the flora, fauna and ecology of the area. Kokanee salmon are visible in the creek along with crayfish....More

The stream profile chamber is basically a one room aquarium. It has been closed most of the summer. It is free, and there is ample parking, and there is a nice walk through the meadow.

The walk is easy and beautiful with interpretation on the markers to identify types of plants and animals you see. Be sure to call ahead. When we were there in mid-September, 2018 the stream profile was closed for repairs. It is still fun to visit.

Have been here many, many times and always enjoy it. We were lucky enough to be there when the Kokanee salmon were running up Taylor Creek. A great place for the kids to see how a stream really looks from under water.

Good to take a stoller or wheel-chair. This is the wetlands between Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe. Watch for frogs and smaller fish as well as a lot of grasslands. I wish we could have seen the salmon run. That would have been fun....More

Its more a diverted section or tank like feature but worth a look. You can see a good variety of fish and the 1/4 mile walk is easily accessible for all type including strollers and wheelchairs. Apparently some great sights in salmon spawning season but...More
