Great Museum
Jan 2020
The museum is excellent with many military aviation exhibits to enjoy and knowledgable volunteers to assist in detailing the exhibits history. Open from Spring to Autumn it's definitely well worth a visit, with free entry for a donation.

Lovely airport and museum and hotel
Oct 2018
A lovely experience. Nice small museum with enthusiastic volunteers. The hotel is connected to the airfield and you may see a Spitfire close up and flying.

excellent experience for young and old
Sep 2019
i visited Sywell Museum with my grandchildren, 2 girls aged 4 and 7. We were warmly welcomed and the girls were immediately offered an opportunity to sit in a cockpit. This they did, complete with helmets. An excellent photo opportunity. All the controls were explained and the girls were engrossed especially as they could touch the controls. We ventured further into the museum and the models dressed in various uniforms proved very interesting as did the likes of an air raid siren that they could actually work. The amount of war time memorabilia was amazing and so interesting. My girls had lots of questions and it was a very interesting visit. We later visited the mess and had ice cream. We saw a couple of aeroplanes take off and helicopters land. I highly recommend a visit no matter what age you are. Splendid!

A truly brilliant place to visit
Sep 2019
My partner and I visited the museum on Wednesday 11 September 2019 when we had some time before flying with the Blades Aerobatic Team. As soon as we entered the museum we were greeted by three gentlemen who were so friendly and helpful right from the offset. We were provided with a laminated card that provided a guide to all of the exhibits and was very useful. Entry to the museum is free but obviously donations help keep the place running. Looking from the outside the impression is that there cannot be much inside because it doesn’t look that big. The building is a Nissen Hut style property which is in keeping with the history of wartime Sywell. On entering the museum it is like the Dr Who Tardis experience where it looks much bigger inside than out. The collection of historic items is amazing and it is well laid out in a logical order. The place is very clean and tidy and is clearly run as efficiently as possible. The guys are always on hand to answer any questions if you require them but they leave you to wonder around in your own time. The amount of information and history is staggering and for a relatively small museum it offers a truly interesting experience. We left a sizeable donation on leaving the premises and admired the Hunter F2 jet outside the building. Well worth spending some time here if you are interested in wartime history from WW1 to WW2 and the history of local aerodromes.

This museum centres on the Second World War and the Cold War and displays many artifacts of the Royal Air force, the USAAF aand the Luftwaffe. It also gives an impression of the life of civilians during the Second World War. I was impressed by all the displays.

If Alladin could fly this would be his cave.

A wonderfully charming and interesting collection of everything to do with planes, pilots and the challenges they faced on our behalf. Really broad range of displays to suit all ages and interests ( not all military focussed) with friendly and knowledgable volunteers on hand to point out the main features.
We had a lovely short visit that has primed us for a deeper view; grandson saving up for Chipmunk lessons.
Entry to this amazing place costs nothing so leave a good contribution to help support the enthusiasm that keeps places like this going please.
The surprises of Sywell continue with lovely art-deco airport terminal and hotel offering grandstand views of Spitfires etc taking off and landing just in front of your eyes and great food.
All told— just a lovely place for a day out that need not cost anything like a fortune.

Excellent visit - sat in the plane and excellent explanation from David as to what all the controls did - absolutely fascinating. Good museum and layout - car park a bit puddly but it was raining and better to spend money on more important things. Great day out for all.
