We decided to drive up into Canada when our cruise ship docked, weather wasn't the best, cold and a little rain. Weather in Canada was much nicer and sunny, which made for a nice trip and some beautiful photos. My travel companion is a photographer...More

Great spot for photos, particularly on a sunny day. Perhaps not a destination on it's own, but there are several natural attractions along the road from Skagway to Whitehorse, and this is one of them.

This 12 mile hike around emerald lake is a moderate hike and can be done by mountain bike. Bring plenty of water and snacks for it will take you the good part of a day. The trail is wide in most places but narrows when...More

We stopped here for lunch and the lake is quite beautiful, particularly when the sun is shining. We didn't have very long here and I am sure it would be nice to spend longer and go for walks.

Emerald Lake is a gorgeous stop on your way down the highway. Keep in mind there isn't much in particular to do here other than sit and soak in the beauty. We like to go across the road from the highway pull-out and scramble up...More

On the way to Skagway or Carcross from Whitehorse you should stop for a few minutes to take in the view. The more adventurous might walk around the lake - I did - It was worth it.

We stopped by and visited this lake on our way from Whitehorse to Carcross. Was one of the most beautiful lakes I️ have ever seen. It was cold and snowy but well worth the stop.

Emerald Lake is a relatively small lake by the Klondike Highway very close to Carcross on the way to Whitehorse. Here we can stop by the road side overlook and take photos (from above) of the turquoise-green lake with dense cedar forest and rugged mountains...More

Beautiful lake on the way to Whitehorse. Worth stopping by and looking at the scenery and even doing down to the lake.

On our way from Whitehorse to Skagway we passed this lake. Ampel parking and great view on the lake. Sign explains why the lake has its colour and the view is spectacular. You cannot drive past it, it is simply beautiful.

Sorry for the delay in responding. All small lakes will be frozen November and larger lakes will start to freeze over. Northern lights can only be seen in our winter months as in the summer we have nearly 24 hours of light... More

Yes, December could be a good month, it always depends if it's clear or not. The best thing is to check the activity. I live in the Yukon and I saw beautiful northern light lights, as well as in NWT and even southern parts... More
