Although, technically, you could drive the length of it and back in two days, they question would be "why"? Plan for a week or longer and stop / overnight at Tombstone to hike, camp at one or more of the campsites en-route, visit some of...More

We drove the Dempster up to Inuvik mid August. In general the road was in good condtion and allowed a reasonable driving speed. Of course there are roadworks and it is an unpaved road. Also the condition of the road varies enormously when it becomes...More

Oh my, wow, holy-moly, the most daring, adventurous drive of my life. Would LOVE to do it again but with more time. I drove only the Yukon portion - all 300 + miles. Missed the 100+ miles NWT portion to catch my flight home from...More

I've traveled this route twice. Once in 2013 and again in 2015. I'll be headed back again this year in August and September. This is a beautiful drive through the Yukon and NWT tundra. It is as others have said, a tire eating road if...More

My understanding is Yukon campgrounds are first come first serve. I also have read you can camp off the road as long as you are 30 metres. We are planning the same trip, same time, hope to see you up North. Safe travels ...

Dawson City has many hotels to choose from. Eagle Plains has a motel which is about halfway up the road. There are a few B&Bs in Fort McPherson too. Have a great trip! It is a beautiful adventure! -Anne
