I woke up early this morn, still on East Coast time, and was up and walking the river at 510am when the sun rose. This trail system is incredible!! I walked 10k and wished I had time to do the full 24 plus. What a special space.

We started our walk along the river at the Broadway Bridge in Nutana. The total trip, on both sides of the river took about 90 minutes, and we only travelled a small portion of the trail. The path is well maintained, and good for cyclists, runners and walkers. There are many informative signs along the way. Preserving this section of land as green space was an excellent decision.

This linear park along the South Saskatchewan River offers great views of the downtown and absolutely made for cycling, walking, and running. They have a riverboat running during the summer as well.
Apparently a top candidate for the next National Urban Park, and definitely well-deserved!

Lovely, well-maintained trails along the South Saskatchewan River offering great views, especially now, with autumnal colours just about at their best. Several bridges, including the high railway bridge, have walkways to give a wide range of circular walks from about 2km to over 20km. Great to see it so well used on a weekday afternoon; schoolkids exercising, joggers, cyclists, walkers, and university classes too.

This is a beautiful, long walk along the main river in Saskatoon. You can walk as far and as long as you like and you see a lot of beautiful changing scenery. I went for a few walks along the river, and enjoyed them all.

I have lived in Saskatoon for over 40 years. The "centre piece" of the city is the beautiful and scenic Meewasin Valley and riverbank. There are endless kilometers of trail winding up and down both East and West sides of the river linked by numerous bridges. The view is breath taking from all vantage points but especially atop of the 33rd St steel train tressel. As mentioned by others, it is scenic, peaceful and fun with wide open spaces for cycling, jogging and walking. Also numerous attrations along the way.

On a recent long weekend trip to Saskatoon we rented bikes at the Bike Doctor and rode the Meewasin Trail along the Saskatchewan River that runs through the city. This is quite an easy ride, mostly flat with a few small hills, on a paved path, part of which goes right along the riverbank. One side of the trail goes by the University of Saskatchewan, whose sculpture garden is accessible right off the path, as are several outlook points, one of which overlooks the rusted hulk of a ski jump from which people used to zoom down onto the frozen river way back in the day. On the other side, closest to the city centre, you can visit the Mendel Art Gallery, and a few park areas and concession stands. Our bikes cost us $40 for about 4 hours and were in decent shape. The Bike Doctor is quite close to the trail, about a 10 minute ride through an interesting part of town along Broadway. See pictures here:

My husband & I had a lovely walk along the Meewasin Valley Trail from just north of the Delta Bessborough Hotel to the Meewasin Valley Centre. I wasn't expecting much but ended up being pleasantly surprised. The walk along the river is beautiful. Good paved trail, lots of view points & quite clean. I did have to stop & pick up several pieces of litter off the path & carry them to the nearest trash receptacle. Why do take-out coffee drinkers feel they can leave their used cups anywhere they happen to be when they finish? There were several interesting statues along the way & we got a great look at the little paddlewheeler on the water. I enjoyed our visit to the Meewasin Valley Centre. A good mixture of information, both historical & current. We learned lots about the history of Saskatoon. I only wish we had walked further along the trail & not forgotten the camera. Oh well, there's always next time!

I love that you can do so much in such lovely environment and to boot are able to walk everywhere. Thanks Saskatoon for a well tended, well thought out downtown development. Drawing not only the suburbia in but also out of towners. One can browse museums or art galleries, eat both street food or fine dining and you can do any activity imaginable in the area. Creating a brilliant venue/backdrop for festivals and all the fabulous events/people this city comprise of.

Thanks for the question! Bike riding is permitted on most of the Meewasin Trails - the prohibited areas are conservation areas that will be indicated by signage that no bikes are allowed.
