After making a special trip to Trois-Rivieres, specifically to see the old prison, we were denied an English tour. The website clearly states that tours are offered in both French and English and we arrived during operating hours. The staff seemed unconcerned and simply said...More

If you are a Quebec enthusiast then visit. Not a lot to see in the museum overall. Not all the explanations are translated into English. For kids I would pick something else.

Trois Rivieres is a convenient rest stop between Montreal and Quebec City. This museum has a couple of nice exhibits related to the culture of the area. Of particular interest was the exhibit on comics.

Visited the old jail. The things that were happening in this jail until 1986 are unbelievable. You won't believe it !

Although some English based explanations were left wanting, the museum in a whole was a great experience to come in contact with some Québécois culture. Most of the expos were interactive, aimed at children of course but still quite entertaining.

Dear Leslie C, We are taking good note of your comment about the English portion of our museum. We are glad that you liked your visit as a whole. Thank you!

We arrived at the museum hoping to visit the Old Prison next door, sadly this was not possible - they only permit guided tours of the jail and there were none due in English the day we arrived - so a bit disappointing. However we...More

As an American the Musee Quebecois De Culture Populaire's exhibit of La Petite Vie was just a mystery to me. The exhibit didn't clear up the mystery one bit. The sound from the massive group of children in the large echoing lobby was almost unbearable....More

The exhibit on crimes of Quebec was very interesting and fit well with the fact that the tours of the adjacent jail meet in the museum. Descriptions were in French, English, and Spanish. A lot of space was devoted to La Petite Vie, a Quebec...More

A beautiful relatively new museum devoted to Québecois popular culture. When we were there there were three special exhibitions including one on an (obviously) incredibly popular soap opera from the 1990s that non-Québecois can't possible relate to but that was nonetheless very interesting as a...More
