A nice area with a big swing for picture taking, Frontenac built La Batterie Royale in response to invasion threats of New England [dastardly Americans!]. At the time the area was called Pointe-aux-Roches. The cannons on display are not original but reproductions sent from France. It is located in the Lower Town near the water.

The Royal Battery is a collection of cannons along the river side, in the old town, just below the location of Chateau Frontenac, in Place Royale. The cannons were placed there as protection against British attacks in late 17th century! Not sure if all or only some are original, or just replicas, but they are a good attraction!

A reminder of times gone past. The row of guns gave the French control of the river below. They must be a dozen or so of these cannon mounted here commanding the area.

Royal Battery is located in the Old Town near the riverside. There are quite a number of cannons displayed in the vicinity. Nice to go direct to this site prior to going uphill for other tourist spots. A nice photo spot for tourists. Recommended.

This is essentially a battery of old cannons facing the sea and bay. It is a short walk from the funicular. Near the berthing place of the cruise liners. Can be a bit slippery. Nice historic place. Short distance from Quartier Petit Champlain.

In Quebec’s Old City, just down the street from the funicular is Batterie Royale. Climbing the ramparts of the Citadelle can be very strenuous to older people and this section of defense is an excellent photo location, for someone going to the Place Royale.

Nice little area, but the best thing is the views of the Frontenac. It’s in a nice area of the lower town and the various little side streets leading to the battery make the visit worthwhile.

If you're coming off a cruise ship, or walking in the area, this may be an area of interest to you. The Royal Battery is a location, which provided protection to the city, with it's cannons, overlooking the river.

Right on the river is this small little park with a dozen or so cannon that once guarded the city. Worth visiting for the historical value.
Within easy walking from the cruise ship terminal.
