Wow. That’s our reaction when we stepped foot inside this basilica. Gold leaf adorned the roof. Fantastic stained glass windows. Really good.

A lovely cathedral with its stained glass windows, paintings, frescos, tiles and more. Large and lovely comparable to some in Europe.

The Basilicas are not avarage. The rating I gave here is only for all the Basilicas and Cathedrals that I have seen in Europe. This one is beautiful. This one is like a petite France's Notre Dame. Almost a copy. The colors in the interior...More

Pretty cathedral is worth a short visit during stroll through upper old town; not a lot of art inside but a lot of gold

We went to see the Crèche in the day and at night. So much history in this church. Very peaceful. Beautiful place to pray and reflect.

My French is poor and I'm Southern Baptist, but I couldn't imagine a better place for Christmas Eve in Quebec than this cathedral. The interior is extraordinarily beautiful, reminiscent of some of Europe's best. After the English "Merry Christmas," the service was in French, so...More

Good luck. I am guessing it will be very busy and very crowded. We were there in the “off” season and it was packed with people. Just too beautiful. Lower your photographic expectations and just try to soak it in. Do the... More

2 weeks road trip from Toronto to Nova Scotia (3 Replies)
My wife and I and our 17 year old son (who doesn't want to go) are planning on taking a 2 week long road trip from Toronto to Nova Scotia through Canada and then on the way back come through the US (leaving next Friday August 4th). The whole point of the trip is to stop at multiple places/cities along the way and just enjoy ourselves. I've done some initial reading on various forums on here as well as other sites like Frommers etc. Needless to say we need some guidance on where to go...More

Thanks maryann-ns! Did some more reading (thanks for all the links - it was very educational and informative). We've decided to extend the trip for two more days and make it 16 days. After Quebec city, we'll stop in Moncton as there seem to be a couple of activities that my son would like. From there we'll head to PEI (spend a couple of days there) After that head to NS (spend a couple of days there as well) And finally head back to Toronto via Maine and Vermont. Thanks!

4 or 5 nights in Quebec City? (4 Replies)
DH and I are visiting family near Boston this July. We are planning a short trip to Quebec City while our kids stay in Boston with their grandparents. We had originally planned a 7-8 night trip to Montreal and QC, but due to family issues can no longer take that many days away from family in Boston. DH would prefer to go to just one city, and we will be able to visit Montreal as a side trip when we visit upstate NY next summer. I am debating whether to book 4 or 5 nights in Quebec City....More

Yup 4 nights wil give you just 3 days in town so it might be better to go for 5 if you want to visit nearby attractions. The whole enchilada of Montmorency Falls, Canyon Sainte-Anne and Orléans Island with may be a stop at Sainte-Anne Basilica will a very good full day. As per Chutes de la Chaudière it is not close to the ferry wharf in Lévis, in fact it is very close to Highway 20 before you reach Pierre-Laporte Bridge so only a stop while you drive to or from Québec City. In the city...More

Traveling with kids - need advise (14 Replies)
Hi All, We are planning to drive to Quebec city(first visit) from Mont Trembelent with 2 kids (ages 6 and 2) on Sunday morning (June 19th) and stay there sunday night. We plan to visit the places in the below list and wanted to know if we will be able to cover them in 2 days. How can we split these in two days and if they all are in walkable distance (except Montmorency Falls Park)? Is it too aggressive to cover all these places?.As we will be staying there sunday night we wanted...More
