The darkest years of New France are just around the corner with Promenades Fantomes : The Original Ghost Walking Tour.

In the very heart of old Quebec City, this unique and interactive experience will offer scares, laughs and history. Our friendly and knowledgeable ghostly guides will gladly uncover the darker side of history of the colony, recounting the stories of worst criminals, sentences and even torture practices of the French or English regimes. Meet some of the colony’s worst scoundrels with our interactive street theatre “Crimes in New-France” Discover local superstitions and legends of yore, and visit scenes where death has left its mark with “Legends and superstitions”. On a lighter note, our jolly ghosts invite you to come relive the old Christmas traditions or experience winter as the French settlers did in our tour “Christmas in New-France”.

The executioner Jean Rattier and his wife Marie Riviere summon you, but one question remains: Will you dare to try it?

Family of 3 booked the evening tour. Mary was our guide. She was humorous and kept the tour entertaining. Weather was gorgeous. She walked us to parts of the city we never would have seen. Very happy to see these hidden gems. Fun stories to listen too. Would highly recommend for a fun tour of the area. Be ready to... More

I did the street theatre of crimes in France. The acting was okay, I wasn't into it too much. This tour is more comical and is better suited for children. I was expecting more history and descriptions of the buildings we walked past.

Tour was very interesting. Our guide (English) was very entertaining and he had many interactions with the guests on the tour. My 16 year old granddaughter loved him and thought he was very knowledgeable. He played the executioner and he was very convincing. Would definately recommend this tour for the entertainment.

Really a great tour with tour guide Mathieu, nice to see some ghostly tours in other cities, coming from the Haunted Walks in Toronto and Kingston. Great end to a day out with my parents visiting me here this summer, discovered cool parts of the city I didn't even know about, and I've been here for a month! Phenomenal tour.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself during the few hours of this tour. Learned some fascinating facts about life in the olden days and how cruel it was. Makes me appreciate the life I have now all that more. Very realistically acted out, Christiane was delightful and thoroughly believable. No regrets, do sign up!.

Ok, so I am surprised that our tour went ahead at all. Why? Because it was chucking it down the night we had booked. Nope, they are made of stronger stuff, these ghosts Stronger than me. I wanted to be anywhere but on this tour, but stuck with it, and in hindsight, glad we did. It was an interactive show... More

This tour was awesome. The tour guide (I think her name was Christiene?) was very funny and knowledge. She made the tour so much fun. Make sure to bring a jacket, it gets kind of chilly at night. I would do this tour again.

Took the tour with my 2 teenaged daughters and really enjoyed it! Charlotte was so entertaining and fun! Would be fine for younger kids (10 & up), it wasn't scary at all, but she did talk about some punishments that were a bit gruesome. Very fun evening & highly recommend this tour!

My girlfriend and I went on the almost two hour tour around Quebec tonight, guided by Emily and it was great. We are from America and had no idea about the progression of punishment in Quebec City. We also learned that fermenting began in Quebec in the 1600s and many other interesting facts about the city's history. Wish we brought... More

1.5 hour tour for 20$ each that was worth it. We were the only ones on the English tour, more people on the French. New York couple bailed early as they said they were 'too cold'! Dress appropriately! Our guide was charming and informative, very engaging in the whole tour.
