Recently saw the company perform Sleeping Beauty at Places Des Arts and it was a great experience. Everything bout the performance was good, the costumes, dancing, Orchestra, and the crowd appreciated it very much. It was my first time seeing this company perform and would like to see them again.

if you're in Montreal in December you must go see the Nutcracker (Casse-Noisette). Although I wouldn't suggest bringing children under the age of 8 just because the show is 2 hours long and if they get restless they are ruining it for other patrons (like the family with the 3 year old sitting behind us)... Les Grands Ballets Canadiens is an excellent company and the show is just delightful. I saw it with my son when he was 8 and he enjoyed it again this year at the age of 23...

My husband and I attended the afternoon showing of The Nutcracker, over the weekend, and loved it! We had both seen this classic of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, when we were kids and we were so excited to go see it again, as adults.
The dancing was quite beautiful and the decor was spectacular and really impressive! From the second it started to the second it finished, we were impressed by the changing decors and the way the dancing was executed. The costumes could have been nicer/ more richly ornate, in my opinion. Act I was more interesting than Act II, as the story line is more palpable and easier to discern, as opposed to the second Act, which is mostly a series of dancing numbers from different people in the enchanted kingdom.
The whole ballet lasts 2 hours, 56 minutes for the first Act and 44 minutes for the second Act, with a 20 minutes intermission.

Extra tip: If attending with small children - make sure they use the washroom before the play as the lineup is impossible during intermission.

Definitely a world-class organization. If you enjoy ballet, you will not be disappointed. Montrealers are spoiled by the variety of good cultural entertainment to be had in their city.

We saw "Falling Angels," three dances that were incredibly inventive and thrilling to watch, and beautifully staged. Two of them had live music. Honestly, I've never seen anything quite like this. The production was acrobatic, theatrical, beautiful, profound, fun, exciting, and gorgeous. We were really excited to be there, and expect to return!

Saw the Nutcracker (Casse-Noisette) at Place des Arts last night. The show is really impressive (dancers, decor, lighting...). Yes the tickets are rather expensive, but you have to see it once in your life. Beware, the show is long, especially after the break so little kids might just fall asleep at the night show. Perhaprs look for a matinee show with them.

Les Grands Ballets are the company to see if you want to see ballet at its absolute best. I have seen all the premier companies of the world perform, and I would rank them in the top 5. The complete attention to the artistic whole of the productions is superb. Even if you have been to the Nutcracker over 100x like me, their Casse Noisette is not to be missed.

As a parent of a former dancer in this group - having to watch 10+ rehearsals of the Nutcracker were painful. Final performance - almost worth the pain!

Les grands ballets are without a doubt on of the best ballets in the world. I have been fortunate to go several times in the past years to their performance and while I am not a great fan of ballet, I was truly impressed by the energy, the professionalism and the talent of the dancers.
