Protestant Church
May 2019 • Couples
Located in Saint Catherine Street. Another church built with Gothic Revival style. Church has two wonderful spires. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful church, kind people
Jul 2018
I visited this church for 11:00am service on a Sunday in July. People were very friendly and welcoming to visitors - all visitors were welcome to receive a candle and origami crane as a symbol of peace and welcome. Had a play area right in the sanctuary for children to play and be kids right during service. Most of service conducted in English, but songs were sung in both English and French. Building is beautiful with interior structure similar to John Wesley's church in England. My only disappointment was that there weren't more people in attendance at the service! But that may be in part because it was summer when people travel, and also because Quebec tends to be more Catholic than Protestant. I didn't take a tour of the church but enjoyed the service very much.

Unexpected find
Jun 2018 • Family
My teens and I were wandering around the area and stumbled upon this church. We popped in for a look. Beautiful windows and friendly folks up front. No fee though we did choose to make a small donation.

Not much to see here
Jun 2018 • Couples
Okay to look at for a couple of minutes from the outside. Nothing really to see inside. If walking past anyway, admire the exterior for a minute, then move on. There are far better ways to spend time in Montreal (including far more interesting churches).

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR MONEY!!!

The administration of the St.James Church does not respect the rights of its neighbours. It has rented its Dawson Hall to a Dinner-Show Company called Le Balcon. The Le Balcon performers play loud music and the venue is not soundproof. It is the only venue in Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles that is not soundproof. I live right across the street from the St.James Church, on the third floor of a residential building that has been located where it is long before the current administration of the St.James Church leased the venue to Le Balcon, and my windows face the windows of the venue. The Loud Rock, Disco, Motown and other Loud Music coming from Le Balcon, up to approximately 11:00 p.m., at least twice every week, is extremely disturbing. The administration of the St.James Church refuses to have the venue properly soundproofed. It has put its financial interests ahead of respecting the rights of its neighbours and by doing so, it has rejected the precept of Jesus to love your neighbour as you love yourself. This decision is another reason why a lot of people believe that Churches are not spiritual centers, but businesses.

The building is really spectacular and significant in beauty of architecture and design. The windows made of glass in different color are very beautiful.

Two different church towers
Aug 2016
Unfortunately the church was closed when we arrived there, for we were very curious to see the inside of theis church with its typical different towers.

Glorious WW I memorial stained glass window
Oct 2016
We were walking by on our way to Old Montreal and saw a sign that the church was open -- we stopped in and were so glad we did! A lovely historical building -- with a WW I memorial stained glass window that took my breath away. A church member told us a little about the church history and congregation. A little off the beaten path, but if you're on Catherine Street anyway (and you probably are) stop in!
