Brilliant range of food in this Mile End tour from vegan falafels to gnocchi straight from the pan to bagels from the oven and lots of interesting stories from enthusiastic local guide Caroline. Really recommend doing this tour and good to get ideas from fellow foodies about other things to do- I went to an ice hockey game!

This was a 2-3 hour tour through old town Montreal, stopping at a handful of small restaurants/cafes throughout the section of the city. Darren, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the food itself (ie, preparation/where and how ingredients are harvested), the culture and history behind the food, and was very helpful with all the other questions we had about how... Had a wonderful food tour of Old Montreal with our "warm-hearted" guide Vera. Enjoyed the "tastes" of the old city with all it's history and charm! Great to learn something new about a city I adore. I can't wait to visit Montreal again when the weather warms up to enjoy all the sidewalk cafes and perhaps another food tour.

Caroline was our wonderful host for the day. She was warm and bubbly and made everyone feel comfortable. For our group she had a mini ice breaker, which had people introduce themselves and share a little. She was very informative, and her love for her job as well as the history of the culture and area was electric. She's very... More

My 3 friends and I decided to spend our spring break in Montreal. This tour was amazing from the beginning! There were only 3 spots in the existing tour when I was booking, so they opened another time slot for us as soon as I got in contact with them. On the way to the meeting spot from the subway,... I would recommend this food tour. The food was delicious! We were so full by the end of the tour that we only had a snack for dinner. Darrin was informative not only of the food but also of the area. It was a very cold day in March and he kept us a warm as possible. The visit to... More

My husband and I loved our Old Montreal food tour with Justin. He told us interesting facts, enlightened us on the history, while guiding us through the streets of Old Montreal tasting local delights!

This food tour exceeded my expectations. It was great to find some hidden gems I wasn't aware of. Vera was awesome! She really made the tour. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone. It's not a long tour but it's the perfect amount of time. Thank you Vera for a great time! David Meranda

Darren did a fantastic job on the tour. His historical knowledge fused with comedy and sincerity made for very memorable tour. The weather was fantastic for February and we took advantage of it. Darren was a great host and seemed to truly enjoy his job. I strongly recommend this tour and Darren as the host of it if possible.

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighborhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colorful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
