This place is neat, but I wouldn't say it's a must-see. It's a fairly standard legal, provincial building with lots of doors and blue signs. If you're into law and like seeing... read more

it. is a very nice building and the city must be proud about it. Location is wonderful and the location is exciting mostly for tourists in Old Montreal. White collars working in the surroundings have plenty of restaurants at different level prices.

A black concrete and granite structure without any design in the Old Town surrounded by Heritage buildings is truly an eyesore. And they call it a Palace? What a joke!

This is a strange place to review but here goes, it's Montreals main courthouse nobody ever comes out of here happy the building is ugly and foreboding, there are no tours so don't bother. If you spend your whole life never having to go there you are lucky.

This place is neat, but I wouldn't say it's a must-see. It's a fairly standard legal, provincial building with lots of doors and blue signs. If you're into law and like seeing different courthouses, you might have fun, otherwise it's not all that interesting!

The picture looks like the second Palais de Justice; we have a third one which is mostly used in Montreal. The one pictured is beautiful, located next to City Hall in Old Montreal. I'm not sure if it's the first or second one. I haven't been for a visit in a long time but it was a beautifully kept old... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighborhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic center of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its center, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theater.
