    Lots of activies
Such a neat place with so much activity going on. I would suggest to walk all around the port and see the sights and sounds. So much do to and see there plus it's an important part of Montreal's history

    Must Visit
You can't miss this. It is right next to Old Montreal. It is very lively on weekends and when the sun is out. Great walk. Lots and lots of activities and places to shop, snack, dine, park. There are ferries from there but we didn't take any. Benches along the way, great are for a picnic. Plenty of arts to take pictures next to. Walked up and down in 2 hours and didn't miss a thing

    Lovely area
The Old Port is a lovely area. It is best enjoyed by just walking along the waters edge. The views are wonderful. The port dates back to the early 1600s when it was used for trading purposes by traders sailing along St Lawrence River.

Loads to do in the Old Port
We wandered around here a few times, always in different areas. Well maintained with various places of entertainment and shops. Sat at the end of one of the piers, watching the boats going back and forth but not really tempted on a river cruise as there didn’t seem that much to see.

    Good walking area
The old port area was very near our hotel and I did enjoy walking round here early morning watching the sunrise. There is so much to see from the large wheel, beach, lighthouse and tower. Great for watching the ships sailing up the river

Free walking tour, Old Town Montreal
Free Walking Tour, Montreal - Darren was our tour guide - he was really knowledgeable and made the tour really interesting. We managed to see quite a few points of interest and each one had history. I can recommend this tour - you will learn so much!

The Old Port of Montreal is… a weird place to review. You can consider the Old Port in two parts. The streets with the stores and restaurants, and then the port itself, which is now just a shell of itself.

If you walk in the area of the streets leading to the old port, you will be welcome with a beauty of history. There is a lot of souvenir shops, and great restaurants. The surroundings are just stunning. The streets might be dirty, but it is overshadowed by the history.

Then, on the other side of the track (which is still working by the way), there is the old port. The place has now become a tourist attraction/trap, but with unfinished work. There is so much blank spaces of places that were torn down over the years, and that nothing went up to replace it, that it almost looks abandoned. Oh but on one side, you have a bunch of food trucks, an expensive ferris wheel, and a huge climbing playground for kids and teens. You also have this beach, where you do not have access to water. And you gave this gorgeous area where you could actually sit and put your feet in the water, but you will be surrounded by 50 wild geese.

So if you go to the Old Port, walk around, enjoy the historical visuals. If you have kids, avoid the Old Port part. There is nothing to see there and it will cost you an arm and a leg as the kids will want to try/eat everything.

When researching online, the Montreal Old Port looked like a very fun place to visit only when you were there in person, it’s quite a different story. Vendors along the walkway all need a revamp as they sold hats, sunglasses, some beyond-cheap accessories and stuff that people won’t even bother look at these days. The water in the paddle-boat pond is so gross you won’t want to go near. You can’t even stand by the railings and watch as every garbage can was swarmed with wasps and you had to keep walking. Zip line only looked cool but it was a very short ride so it’s quite lame. The Ferris wheel was $28 a ride which to me is more than it’s worth as it’s not a tall structure at all compared to many other Ferris wheels. The long boardwalk overlooking the river is the only place that’s clean and where you can sit, relax and enjoy the river view. We thought we could spend a few hours here, turned out it only took less than an hour. Old Port can use a lot of upgrades if they want to attract more tourists to stay and spend money. Basic public cleanliness is the first place to start.

I am very disappointed to receive a verbal aggression in Downtown Montreal. We were tourists and after that I do not feel safe in Montreal anymore. It is not a friendly city and the aggression has no explanation or justification, specially if the aggression is from a crazy lady, who yelled at my baby (20 months old). It is not a friendly city.

We could walk here from our Old Montreal hotel. We caught the St. Lawrence river cruise here. In doing so, we encountered food trucks for lunch, and my young son had a blast at the ropes course/inflatables for children. We walked by the science museum and walked up some stairs to view the Saturday night fireworks from a comfortable location. We regret not having more time to rent bikes.

The walking promenade takes you down to the riverfront where they have lots of things to do and see. We tried the Ferris Wheel and it gives you a great view of the river and the city. They have a Zip line, Pirate Ship, Playground, Paddle boats to name a few. Lots of great restaurants here also.

This is the major tourist area of downtown Montreal on the water. There were some interesting shops and a variety of things for families to do, but not much else. This is the area where Cirque de Soleil is , so if you're planning on seeing that show, wondering around here is something to do.

I have never seen an employee potentially syndicated at the parking lot who lacked social abilities to the point he was impolite towards a school bus driver and should I add condescending in the awful way he instructed the driver to take the students further down the road. I will add that people inside Centre des sciences who have clearly showed us and our extremely well brought 52 students that they punch when they work, which we don’t. Thumbs up to the staff at IMAX and in la Fabrique upstairs where we felt welcome and were treated well, but to the bunch of morons who made us feel cheap for asking for an extra table for the teachers to eat, you deserve to lose your job.

Our two young kids LOVED it here (ages 7 and 10). There is so much going on and the views are lovely. The kids particularly enjoyed the Zipline and the Ferris wheel. We saw a lot of families using the pedal bikes which also looks like great family fun! Expect it to be crowded here, especially on the weekend.

Worth a visit, the Old port is by the riverside as the name suggests. There are many things to do for young and old from a zip line, ferris wheel, plenty of stalls and places to eat. All within about a 2 mile radius. It’s not cheap by any stretch, a family on the ferris wheel will spend around £80, same for the zip wire. There are plenty of places to eat but again it’s pricey. Lots of tourist shops that are quite helpful.
