It's a big open space downtown and near Old Montreal. Not especially grand or pretty, sort of left from some urban renewal OK.

Yet another park area of Montreal we visited as we explored Montreal, is a large expanse with not a lot to see apart from the architecture of the City Hall and whatever the other building is, worth a visit.

Not a part of the city that you might have cause to describe as exhilarating. I took photos but only two as there really wasn't anything of interest to record.

Even though the weather wasn't hot and climbing this green space in the city centre effectively remained unoccupied.

I'm a bit foxed as to what it's for ! Probably occasional events of some kind - just a deductive guess !

Champ-de-Mars is an awesome place to visit. Its panoramic views by day or night are amazing. I used to go at least once a month just to catch the beauty of Montreal's downtown core. During the summertime you can stroll in the nice and freshly cut grass and just admire the natural ambiance.

Ok, worth a look if you are in the area, very close to many of the other tourist attractions. The place is very clean, and nice place on a sunny day.

Champ-de-Mars used to be a military drill place.
Now it turned into an open space for people to enjoy sunshine.
It is surrounded by buildings, and if you stare at the walls,
that would make you feel the walls were used to protect this city.
I really like story behind it and hope you enjoy it.

This area just behind city hall, I assume it's green in the summer but right now it's covered in the snow.

This place is used for large gatherings and events and you can see why. However outside of that it is a large green space with little to see. If there isn't an event on I would give it a miss.

This is a large lawn behind the City Hall and Edifice Lucien-Saulnier, where there are remnants of the old city wall. Although of historic importance, there is little to see.

Champ de Mars has been a gathering place for many historical events throughout Canadian history. It is a beautiful green space on the edge of Old Montreal. It contains a portion of the original wall that used to surround the city, which was pretty neat to see. This isn't a must see, but if you're nearby, take a look.
