If you're in town and want to do something a little different I would definitely recommend a night at Mado. Yes it is all in French and if you don't understand you will miss a lot of the jokes as I did, but the girls, their costumes and performances are well worth it. You can see Shakira, Cher, Beyoncé and Amy Whinehouse all in one night! The people watching is also fun and you can even dance in between. I very much enjoyed it and hope to catch a full Beyoncé show there again one day as Sasha Baga (Beyoncé) was amazing!!

The show lasted much longer than I expected, and so worth seeing! Great exotic, non-traditional, non-conservative, fun entertainment. Highly recommend!

We didn't enjoy this experience at all. We have been to many drag shows as we lived in SF for a long time - and we tend to go see drag whenever we are vacationing. It seemed like two of the performers were actually women - no not just great drag. They started 45 minutes late. The club is a rip off. The moment you walk in, they tell you they do not allow coats on the back of chairs. We said we were cold and wanted to wear them. They told us they would immediately make us bring them to coat check if they see them on the back of our chairs. Of course, they charge for coat check. We saw many people put their coats on the back of their chairs and nobody gave them a hard time. The show itself was bad. Way too much time was spent getting suggestions for songs from the crowd. It seemed to me to be what I would call "straight drag". The audience was mainly straight. No attempt was made to speak in english - even though they knew there were people in the audience who only spoke English. That wouldn't have been too bad as they lip synced to English songs - its just that they spent 80% of the time goofing around and talking - not performing the songs. We walked out - it just got too irritating.

The show was 95% in French, so I couldn’t understand the jokes but the ballets, costumes and music really good.

I went here for a fun Saturday night. The VIP section was sold out, so I had to sit in the general area. The show started punctually, that was a big plus. The coat check was only $3. You don't need to speak French to have a good time, but it is helpful. I will most likely go here again on my next trip to Montreal. I would definitely recommend.

We got to the bar early as we were in the area and thought we would stop in for some drinks before the show. Needless to say we were hit with a 15 dollar cover which for two gay travellers who have been to many shows we felt was high. We debated for a bit because that seemed steep but finally went in. Only after we paid we were told there was no sitting room in the whole bar....the whole bar was empty but every table was reserved. Great. So we get a drink and wait it out as bachelorette party after bachelorette starts filling in the place. Our side near the door gets full up with parties which to each their own so we move to the other side of the bar near the lotto machines. That’s where we meet the rudest bar tender I have ever met.

We get to the bar on the other side of the room and just stand there. On the counter is a reserved sign, just like every table in the place, which is still mostly empty. The bar tender rudely tells me I have to move as the counter is reserved, but the show doesn’t start for another hour and a half? I move to the corner of the bar and my partner and I just go back to our business. After 5 minutes he again rudely barks at us. He tells us that the bar is for people who are drinking only, so I show him my beer and say I am and then he points at my partner and says well he needs to be drinking too. I tell the bartender that my partner does drink. He then says the bar is for paying customers (like I got my pint of beer for free) and that we need to move. At this point the show is not starting for at least another hour. Needless to say his aggression and demeanour put a huge cloud over our evening and we didn’t have the heart to stay through the whole show as after that we committed to not giving this place another dime. If your curious who the rudest bartender in Montreal is you can recognize him by his brown hair and beard and the palm leaf shirt he bought at old navy to delight his otherwise cold heart.

Also the drag show was meh.

I took my 24 year old daughter, (I'm a mom), as I had made reservations many places for us to visit while in Montreal. We had never been to a drag show, so why not! It really was a great time. A lot of French but that's ok, even though we did not understand some of it. They also spoke a little English. The dancing was fun to experience and watch these guys and gal put on a great show. Glad we went.

Great show! Although the host speaks primarily in French we were there for the entertainment and were not disappointed.

At the heart of St Catherins (which closes for traffic during most of summer), this place remains an icon. The first time I came here was more than 20 years ago...and the place kept its charm year after year. On Thursdays it screens the Ru Paul Drag Race and the place is packed with observers and loyal crowds (come around 7 to get a place to seat). The opening performance is always hilarious with very good lip singing! The drinks are ok, and the service is superb. Welcoming as always.
