Amateurish house although this drag house venue was built by Mado herself. I'm sure Mado tries to manage this place at the best of intentions however it is quite the opposite. The staff overall is rude and see the world within their own bubble and must say the door policy is strange and kind of a rip off. We were... More

Though probably not for everyone, Cabaret Mado on Ste. Catherine Street in Montreal is a complete hoot. Featuring classic lip syncing drag queens, great drinks and a very convivial atmosphere, Mado is naughty and fun. Be prepared to pay for your entry/cover charge in cash, but drinks can be bought with a card.

My group had such a great time at this hilariously vulgar show! We were a bachelorette group of 8. This place is definitely a popular spot for bachelorette parties! The host mostly speaks in French, but once she knew we were an English speaking group, she made an effort to involve us too and pick on our bride! Everyone is... More

I see others have had the same problem. Freezing cold, I was happy to arrive at the door, paid my entrance fee ($13) and got stamped on the wrist. Then was told to check my (lightweight) jacket downstairs. I said that I was cold and would prefer to keep it on - seriously it is a light down waistcoat not... More

We decided to go to Cabaret Mado for our friend's bachelorette. I had heard a lot about this place and was always curious about it. I am so glad I finally had the chance to see it for myself. It was hilarious!! Although, you should be able to understand french as the MC mainly speaks in french. However, even if... More

If you want a different kind of evening, grab a few friends and try the mado experience. It-s really a lot of fun and you-ll talk about it all week. Cheers.

We knew the MC was going to speak mainly French but that was fine; we also knew we would be picked on as being non French speaking and we were but it was fine. Funny actually! What we did not know was that Tuesdays were the "wild" night with a one hour show at 11:30pm. Apparently each club in The... More

Went to Mado for the first time last night for a girls night, it was so much fun! Yes it's pretty much all in French, but they make no pretenses of being bilingual, you are in Montreal you have to expect that, not to mention the website is all in French that should be your first clue. The acts were... More

Staying in The Village (Gay Village)

Neighborhood Profile
The Village (Gay Village)
The rainbow pillars of Beaudry Métro Station shepherd the way into to The Village, one of the largest hubs for gay and lesbian culture in North America. With an open layout and a congenial aura, the refurbished buildings along Rue Sainte-Catherine pay a special homage to menswear and to caffeine, with showrooms and cafes. By morning, the antiquing gems along Amherst Street are packed with collectors. An incredible party spot, The Village comes alive at night, when clubs, bars, and dance halls open their doors and the revelry is high, epitomized by the fanciful trimmings of the apropos Oscar Wilde building. From May to September, the area closes to automotive traffic, allowing restaurant terraces to pour onto the streets, creating a dynamic sense of community. Les Boules Roses, thousands of pink baubles, are hung to welcome in the festivals and celebrations, including Montréal en Arts, Divers-Cité, and the Pride Parade.
